Default Calling all Terzo Owners!! Which MY is mine? What is 'non' standard on my car?

Hi all,

Ive got a 1998 S reg Impreza Terzo. It was registered on 31st December 1998 so any ideas which 'MY' revision mine would be pls? Would it be a MY99 or MY98?

Also the photo below is of my car, could anyone please tell me what is 'non' standard by looking at it. Obviously the wheels, side skirts, Tints etc are but are the headlights standard and what about that front bumper? Ive read some where that the MY98 had 3 slats for the indicators but mine only has 2 ?!?!

Thanks for your help
Gavin

Haha thanks Dave. It certainly turns heads!

In fact today as I was passing through a rather 'rough' area there were some kids that shouted "look theres a Subaru" and next second reched into their pockets and pulled out..........................................a mobile phone camera and took a pic of it.

Bless 'em.

It's a lovely motor no matter what.

The front headlights, indicators, sidelights etc are not standard but what we
call a crystal upgrade.

The front bumper is, if im correct, a 99-00 type. So too is the front grill. Im not sure if those were standard or whether its been upgraded though.

Cheers V5man. That would explain why it is different to the pics of other terzos Ive seen, looks like it may have upgraded then.

Surely though if the car was registered on Dec. 98 then the front end hasnt been upgraded, thats the way it should actually look .... did the MY99 cars not start from about Nov. 98??

Ive seen various Terzo's on R and S plates, some with the earlier 2 pot brakes and some with the revised 4 pots .... but have to say, ive never seen one with the restyled front!!

Looks brilliant!!

Hi RB5 69 - Im sure I heard something similar once before about it possibly being a MY99 but I didnt have a clue. In fact I once found a web site that had a list of the VIN code 'meanings' that said if it had an 'F' in the chassis number (or something like that) then it was a MY99, if it had an 'E' then it was a MY98. Mine says 'F' !! But I couldnt be sure if that was 100% correct or not.

Also mine only has the 2 pot brakes if that makes a difference as to whether its a MY98 or MY99?

Hi Neil XR, Mine is number 088. Do you have any photos that you could send me please that I could look at to see what a standard terzo should look like?

In theory as yours was manufactured after mine it should be the same? Do you know whether yours is a MY98 / MY99 and when it was registered?

Thanks for your help guys.

Thanks Neil,

Is the rear of your car like this? Or is the rear bumper different?

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a37...preza/Rear.jpg

You've done well to keep your Terzo standard - most have been modified from what I've seen!

Cheers

Hi Gavin,

Im confused now!!

I cant understand why yours has quite an early number and the 2 pot brakes??

I have heard of some of the ltd. ed. cars being registered late (like yours) for any number of reasons which would explain the early number and the 2 pot brakes .... but that certainly dosent explain the MY99 front end and crystal headlights!

Maybe the front has been upgraded at some point (quite easy to do nowadays) .... im beginning to doubt now that it came out of the factory like that .... although i stand to be corrected on that one!!

Either way, a very nice example!!

Norm.

The previous owner did mention that the front lights had been changed and so have the rears with ones from an STI, I think he said.

I think I'd best double check the 2 pots - but they certainly dont say 'subaru' on them - they are just plain (well theyve been painted red in fact).

Cheers

Thanks guys.

The rims are 18" Koenig's. The black rim with chrome outline seem to be really popular lately. I've seen so many cars with them on its unreal - either that or you just notice them more when you have them!

Hey Adidas - I read somewhere there used to be a terzo website www.terzo.co.uk I think, but it just links you back to www.sidc.co.uk. Wonder if anyone would consider getting it back online again?

Cool, you have a P1 rear spoiler by the looks of it

I'm having mine fitted today

Mines Sonic Blue MY00 so looks very similar to your Terzo.

Can't say if any Terzos were made with MY99 onwards front bumpers and yours is the first I've seen. As Sonic Blue was limited to P1 and Terzo in this country when I took mine to Subaru dealers for service they asked if it was a Terzo.

Other stuff:

MY99 onwards bumper
STI Rear lights
P1 rear spoiler
Colour coded sills and mirrors
Wheels obviously
Pink STI badge
Can't say about the lights but quite possibly changed to later model items

As for the 2 pots, I thought it was only MY99 onwards that had 4 pots fitted.

Pretty car though

The whole Terzo website was up for about a year 2-3 years back. It then fell by the wayside as it was a bit of a one trick pony. There are several reasons why, many have been crashed, smashed, written off or nicked. The early cars are now nearly 9 years old (with mileages to match, although mine has only just reached 42k), a long time in motoring. Those in the know suggest there's only about half of the marque left.

Phil 'The Boss' Stephens (SIDC Chairman) thought it would be a nice gesture to buy the domain name and link it to the SIDC.

Have a look here >>http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=378482 for some more info.

Thanks mate. The P1 spoilers look great. The carbon fibre detailing at the top of it really sets it off. For some reason as Ive looked around people seem to upgrade to the STI spoiler rather than the P1 ! I personally prefer the P1.

How much are the genuine P1 spoilers to buy as an upgrade out of interest?

Cheers

Bought mine along with a load of other bits from a wrecked P1. I paid £250 for mine but they can go on ebay for up to £400.

Think most go with STI 5/6 spoilers because they are easier to come by and aftermarket copies are available. P1 spoilers were only produced with P1s and no copies are available.

I'm also fitting a P1 (copy) front splitter shortly Would look great on yours too IMO.

I had thought exactly the same about the front splitter from a P1. Seen them on ebay a few times. Do they fit the later spec front bumper without any modification? I guess if yours is the same as mine then it must do!

That will more than likely be on the hit list for the summer.

Also found out its been lowered but dont know by how much.

A P1 front splitter would look great on your car .... but be careful what you buy .... dont be fooled by the "cheap" versions that are available on eBay.

Remember, you have to fit and paint it after youve paid your money. Most of the eBay ones comes with no fitting kit .... just a spoiler, no nuts or bolts, rubber stripping etc.

Ive always found www.drmotorsport.co.uk to be excellent for body parts (everything comes ready painted) .... plus David is a really genuine guy to deal with!

Heres the P1 splitter on mine ....

.... along with a few other DR Motorsport parts!!

That car looks fantastic mate

What series are small bonnet vents from? They are slightly raised compared with mine. I guess the scoop is from the new style? How easy are the small vents to fit and any idea how much pls? They look great.

Answered my own question - they are 22b bonnet vents from DR Motorsport for £80. Cool.

The vents, bonnet scoop, P1 spot lamp covers and P1 splitter all came from DR Motorsport.

The vents are 22B style ones and look the business .... i'll look out a better photo .... but they are so much better in the flesh.

They are fantastic quality (made in Italy) and are a dawdle to fit!! (come with full instructions)

Think the current price is £80 + P&P and this includes painting!!

Hey RB5 - is this your car on the DR motorsport website?

If so where was this taken? I saw a photo of an RX7 (highly modified) parked in exactly the same spot a few weeks back.
