I have a 2001 bugeye WRX and am booking mine in for an ecutek remap at Powerstation in Tewkesbury.

It will cost ~£550 +VAT and should give me about 260-275bhp afterwards. You can pay anywhere from £550 to £700 for an ecutek remap.

My car is currently standard except for a Magnex Oval 6x4 backbox plus decat centre pipe, I will also be fitting a Green panel filter and uprated fuel pump before the map.

Hope this helps.

Rich.

Burty,

Andy Forrest is only a couple of hours up the road.

Do yourself a favour and book yourself in.

Why not come to the Tyne Tees Scoobies meet on Tuesday where you will get loads of advice and assistance.

You should notice it. I could tell the car was breathing better over 5,000rpm and there was a slight increase in induction noise. It will complement the exhaust modifications which will translate into more power when remapped at the higher rpms. It's well worth the money and you'll never need to replace it (just clean every 10,000 miles).

I'm looking forward to hearing the results of your remap. Your setup is almost identical to mine now so the figures I get should be very similar.

It's looking like being Monday 31st October so I'll post my findings on SN and PM to let you know. I can't wait, really looking forward to it !!!

Is the panel filter easy to fit, I'm not very mechanically minded (work in I.T.)?

Yes it's easy to fit. You've just got to unclip the top of the airbox. Drop the filter in and then get the top back on - it seemed to take a bit of forcing with me.

I also had to trim the panel filter. You may need to do this also and it just takes a sharp knife. You'll see that around the edges on the inside there is a relatively large semi-circle bit and then another smaller semi-circle bit coming off this. You may need to cut the smaller semi-circle bit out to get it to fit. It's obvious when you see it.

I work with Computers too...

Edited to add - There are lots of these semi-circle bits spaced out along the inner edge.

Hmmm....and where abouts is the airbox located in the engine bay???

And is there a panel filter in there already, I guess the standard factory fitted one?

The airbox is on the nearside, and isnt easy to miss.

Im 14 and managed to take the whole induction setup apart, remove the induction silencer and put it back together again in just under an hour, so changing a filter should be a 5 minute job

What's this induction silencer? Is this the resonator mod? Sounds like something I need to remove

It is. It's located in the front nearside* wing. Doesnt give much a performance gain unless you go high power, but it sounds nice

Hell, I'm 34 and don't feel any different from 14 so I don't think age is going to make any difference! Just remember from here on in you will have the same brain power, just less experience!

But well done mate, I read about your snorkelling adventures earlier. And your right, pretty hard to miss the airbox. One of screws can be a bit of a hassle to get at though, lots of poeple just dont use it.

Its not a matter of brain power, just power

You a big beefer then ?

I would have loved to have been messing with a car like a scoob 20 years ago!

Instead I was fishing, BMX'ing, and flying birds or prey. Oh well.
