Default Buying a car thats CAT D recorded.

What exactly does Cat D entail ?

The car i seen is advertised as recorded. Having only light damage before being repaired properly.

But what am i really going to be faced with ?

Any ideas ?

Oh, it's an Impreza by the way.

We had a Puma that was Cat D. Bought for 7600 from an independent dealer (they wanted 8500) when it was 20 months old in January with cash when sales were slow which is why I beat them down. Sold for 4000 when it was 47 months old to a private buyer with little effort by putting it on a Puma board at the right price. I reckon it was 1000 undervalued when bought and sold compared with a straight car. It had been stolen recovered but was mechanically sound. Some are ace, some are not. For a cheaper car I would do it, but I turned down a nice looking, well specced Euro import Cat D M3 for £8k below the going rate for a straight UK car with warranty.

If it is repaired well its fine. Means it has had light damage/water damage or been stolen.

Check it out, if it was stolen **** it right off

That isnt the case. They may insist on proof of proper repair before making a sensible offer though.

How do you know if a car is cat D? Is it written on the v5 document?
Cheers.

AFAIK it can only be found by doing an HPI check.

Thanks for all your replys folks.

As far as i know, it's had light damage, so not stolen recovered.
Am going to speak to the people today, and see what areas were involved, who repaired it etc...
