Thumbs down £35 PETROL AND ONLY 110 MILES M1 @ 70MPH ? ANY IDEAS

Newbie needs help guys,

I was on me way to heathrow via the M1 and full tanked my 94 Sti + Silkolene octane booster, was doing 70ish all the way then realised how quickly my petrol was going down and by the time I got there it was finished

Now my 94 import Sti makes a huge constant whooosing noise when it hits 3,200 rpm by gently getting the revs up in any gear (like the dump valve is on constantly) the whooosing only stops when you put your foot down and use the boost (using the spooled boost built up im assuming)

Is this with all scoobys or is my ecu modified in some way I suspect this as its fast as %^&% feels a lot more then 250bhp

Now on the motorway whilst it was guzzling shell @ 70mph the boost gauge was below 0 on 700

Generally around town its not bad, I mean come on £70 +driving miss daisy = 220 miles ?

Any ideas guys, apologies if im missing something obvious but I only got my 1st scooby 2 weeks ago

Hmmm adjusting the dump valve ? I always thought they were non adjustable (baileys anyway) you mean the sring within the D/V ? Fuel problem only on the motorway so I can rule the lamda sensor out , got 196 miles santa pod weekend from tank

My cars staying of the motorway until this is sorted, Civic Vti woulda took a tenner there and back

any others experiencing same problem ?

Cool

lads, after a few beers, lady is watchin sex and the city, but first off dump valve me thinks exhales excess pressure driven by the turbo. So this should only happen at accelerating gear change up, not all the time. Check the waste gate. It could be spooling up the turbo. This is not good. Spins to destruction. Any way I'm back to my sex and the city.

As above.

Put std recirc one back on to double check.

Otherwise could be lambda sensor and at a push the MAF sensor.

Probably a lambda sensor but get it checked by a specialist.

With about 440-450 BHP I get 280 miles from a tank at 80 cruise with some fun. Or about 21mpg.

So you don't want to hear that I got 34 to the gallon on an M1 run then?

I'd check lamda sensor, as you should be running off boost at constant 70, which means that you should be on closed loop (ie using lamda sensor rather than a simple map)

If you are hearing the turbo, something else is wrong!

All,

Thank you ever so much for the responses guys !

Will put the recirc back on and if no joy, then ill go check lambda and MAF !

I also noticed when decelarating from boost at about 100mph the car violently jerks going ptssst ptssst , im hoping faulty dump valve !

Thank you all

Went from Beeston (Nottingham) to the NBO the other Sunday and that used just about all me optimax in me tank

Oh the joys of subaru ownership

Not a lot of fun though! or a single figure mpg would be more likely with that sort of power!
