Question Cardata?????

Has anyone had any experience of a company called cardata ???

My sti is for sale at the moment and they have been grinding me down for a few days now and i am very wary of giving them 100 quid to advertise my car if they are a load of rip off merchants..

views apprecaited

They are a complete rip off, you might as well take your £100 and set fire to it!

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANYTHING!!!!

(Speaking from my mate's experience here)

Thanks for that.

I have just told them i won't give the money up front but if they sell it i will pay later... they didn't go for it... they reckon they had buyers lined up but when i asked for a guarantee that someone would be round they backed down.. time wasting tossers..!!! persistant timewasting tossers!!

Cardata: "hello, is that the owner of blah blah blah.... etc.... we can sell... we have buyers ... etc."

Me (interrupting): "Do you want to buy my car?"

Cardata: "er, no"

Me: "Then I don't want to talk to you"

They've not phoned since

Exactly as above - NEVER heard of ANYBODY selling a car by using Cardata. It's a complete scam and has been featured on the telly in the past.

Default Scam

Hi all! I am from southern Ireland and I had a UK company call telling me they had 3 buyers lined up to view my car. They asked me for my credit card details, but when I said I would pay AFTER the car was sold, I was told the company had been caught out with people not paying up and as a result of this they needed cash up front. It sounded to good to be true, so I told them I wasnt interested, but they persisted calling me and eventually I just told them the car was sold, even though it wasnt. Stay well clear of these guys!

Simon.

I went with them, didn't get a single query. Stay well away, Autotrader is the best place for selling stuff, end of argument.

The thing to remember is this.

When you have bought a car in the past, have you ever used/seen Cardata? Have you ever seen Cardata advertising their magazine/website/sales channels?

Sums it all up really. If YOU don't know about them, how do other people.

PS Yes, they're well known for this, and have been doing it for decades. Don't even entertain them on the phone. Hang up. Or told them it's sold. Either that or wind THEM up.

I had a 3-door 'Mint' Cosworth for sale for £12000 a few years back. They insisited they had buyers lined up for this type of car.

What they failed to tell me was that this type of car was actually classed on their books as a 'Sierra'.

So they had people interested in anything from a 1.3L through to a show condition Cosworth. How many do you think were after the Cossie.......zip....zilch...big fat zero.

at the time it cost me £60.....worst money I have ever spent....

Yeah they tried it on with me and I got talked out of doing it - sounds so good, so heres what to do when they call.

Ask them to phone you on your mobile, keep them jabbering on for as long as you can, ask them loads of questions then tell them to pi55 off. By that time they'v spent loads on the cost of the call to your mobile and hopefully we can drive them out of business!

Can only agree with the above.

Scammed me years ago, though I did get my money back from them.

STAY CLEAR.

I second that.

If anyone is looking for a car they are bound to look in the Auto trader or Exchange & mart (or anywhere else),not likely to ring cardata.

Lost £80 with these buggers.

Me too!
Don't use them at all. I was conned a few years back when they 'phoned. It cost me £60 back then and I never even got one enquiry through them.
It is true that they were featured on BBC's watchdog programme last year. Evidently they increased the number of people "allegedly" interested in buying your model of car by using bogus names. This was only found out after the selling customer insisted on seeing the list.
They were also found to be negligent when they were supposed to be advertising cars on their web-site - never did it.
At least Dick Turpin wore a mask when he robbed someone!
