Thanks for your thoughts chaps / chapesses , seem's like this has really hit a nerve, so lets hope that someone at Subaru will see this and look into improving the Impreza's security, and get this car out of the thiefing barstools hands for good.
Anyone got a high voltage electric shock generator to run on 12v DC, just like to fit one to my scooby and light the scum's **** up when they sit on it . Don't worry i know it's illegal to fit these type of devices, but have you seen what can be fitted LEGALLY in South Africa these days, time for some changes, maybe?
Chargrill thief anyone?

Well done all those at Which magazine for there Security test on cars, seems like the Impreza came off worst,3 seconds to break into the car, so come next year we are ALL going to be paying EVEN MORE for our already over inflated insurance premium's.
The 3 second figure, is that to actually force the lock AND start the car? Also most thiefing scumbags just break the bloody window anyway, quarter of a second at most. I though ALL imprezas came with a cat 1 immobiliser anyway.
Time to get some serious security divices on you car, if you want to keep it ,it seems. My car has the standard fit Immobiliser, after market alarm system / immob,no names mentioned for obvious reasons, and the all important Disclok.
Time to keep your eyes and ears peeled and watch out for scum attacking you scooby, thanks again Which, you've done all us Impreza owners a big favour. Will you pay my insurance next year then???
A slightly annoyed

you've got it all wrong guys and girls, what we need is a few more thousand speed camers to create even more bloody revenue ,and then the government will be able to buy a brand new scooby for every thief and insure the sodding car for them in case theirs gets nicked.......yours equally annoyed, kazlo

As i read 'the mirror' and not the sun, although they did report about this, did the scooby have an alarm on it????? i'm sure most of us have had a cat 1 alarm or /and tracker fitted anyway

So now every little scumbag sh!thead will think he is on to an easy profit when he sees an impreza
He will have a go at breaking in, and then set the alarm off.
This will confuse his little neanderthal brain, so he will nick what he can and then p!ss off
It is highly unlikly than he would know how to remove disk-loks and by pass immobolizers and tracking devices but that doesnt matter.
The damage is already done
This happened to my car earlier this year.
The end result was damaged door surrounds and a broken window.
Damaged stereo and property stolen from my car.
In the end i ended up about £300 worse off (and my no claims is protected).
Just another statistic

I'll bet the police did'nt even bat an eye lid, too busy setting up cameras around the place. Seen 6 coppers manning ONE speed camera on Queens Rd in beeston, 1 with the camera the other 5 pulling people in and issuing tickets and checking there cars.
