60k service and Cambelt change - Yes or No?
#1
My car is due for a 60k service in a couple of months.
I had my cambelt changed at 34k and currently the car has 40k. According to the schedule, I need the cambelt changed at 60k.
Is it worth changing again? Bearing in mind it had a new one not so long ago.

I'm no expert but I thought if it's MY99 or older it was 3 years OR 45,000, so if it's only been done a while ago it's dependant on time rather than milage

Mine was changed at the end of last year ,I won't be looking to get it changed until I've done another 45,000 miles or 2 1/2 years time .If in any doubt I'm sure a good dealer will put your mind at rest .Sleep easy !

Sorry I didn't see ur post.
I have my serviced at Heritage.
I have a silver MY99 (PPP) with HKS Ti-Tip and a Scoobynet sticker on the rear windscreen. I'm always out and about due to the nature of my job plus I get paid for milage .
I will keep an eye out for u as well.

I'm looking already! But did you read the posts about a dead spot at 3/4000revs on PPP upgrades? Have you found a problem too, because I'm hesitating on taking the Prodrive until I hear that it's safe.

Originally from Leicester, but my son is at Uni there so I'm often around. Heritage have been very good on the whole, and I'd really like to take the PPP, especially as EVO magazine puts the 0-60 at 4.8 seconds, but it's a bit worrying that so many people seem to have experienced an accelleration blip since upgrading. You seem to be the first person to give the thumbs up and so I may go and have a chat with Phil tomorrow.
Incidentally, whilst driving down Evington Road last Thursday, I got into a long queue for the lights on East Park Road, and loads of people came out of shops to take a look at the Scoob. I thought there was a problem at first, but soon realised they were just admirers. There was a black 02 STI parked nearby, and I reckon the owner was amongst the onlookers.

When talking about cam belts the age of the belt is very important.
For instance if your car has only done 10k miles but is 3 years old, the belt will need changing cos rubber ages.
Vinesh - as your car has only done 34k and the belt is only 7 and a half months old, there is no reason to change it.
If i was in your shoes i would have it swapped at the service which is closest to 13 of September 2005, making the belt 3 years old.
