Gritters!!
#1
Last night my P1 was showered by a gritter travelling towards be on a B road. I had nowhere to go, so the offside took the full brunt of this twit driving a sixty miles an hour towards me.
Guess what? Yup you've guessed it, stone chips all the way down one side!!
Any chance of suing the b4st4rds?

The same happend to me on sat night, although I was on a fairly wide A road, didn't notice him untill it was to late to pull over, even with a bloody great flashing light. Have checked the offside but in garage light so Ill have a better look in daylight. Think I got away lightly. Sorry to hear about the P1, is it just Subaru paint that chips easly or does this happen to everyone else on the road..

When I cleaned the car at the weekend I found loads of grit stuck in the gaps around the foglights. A very delicate operation to remove without scratching the paint or plastic surround

I too suffered the attack of a gritter coming toward me on a narrow B road. I started to slow down and then it hit me (not the gritter but an idea) BOOT IT!!
I was lucky that no (not that ive noticed any) chips occured.
Sorry to hear about yours, but as its been said, its the joys of motoring.

better stone chips than sliding uncontrollably into hedges or tress.
i'm not saying i like gritters coz i dont but at current driving conditions, better to have them around. skidded on m56 travelling at 20mph in fresh icy snow.
but i'll advise keep eyes open and avoid where possible or like me just bite hard and hope not many chips when those big basta*ds pass by.
hope no excessive damage to your car though.

I agree they are essential this time of year but they don't have to drive past at 60 mph and cover the roof of your car
Is the spreading in relation to the speed of the vehicle?

Burfy, sorry to hear about the mowtah....
I do think the paint finish is well, it seems as though somebody's gone along and thought they were painting a ruddy water painting.. its not a thick coat by any means...
My front bumper/splitter getting repsrayed next week, a friend of mine said he'd use a soft foundation b4 respraying, as this will make it alot softer, so mr stone comes along and BOING... hopefully damage wont be so bad... I'll let you know how I get on.
