What's the verdict?

Would like to know what peoples opinions are to buying an Impreza from an importers without a history from Japan.
Is no history normal? What sort checks can be done on cars?
The importer's are members of BIMTA, is this worth anything?
Opinions please.

If I bought say a 95 WRX just over from Japan from an importers, what sort of paper work should I expect to see? MOT/SVA, service history?
Any advice is well appreciated

Hi Paul,
I bought a 95 WRX from an importer, no paper work at all.
It seems if your lucky you may get some sort of service record with the car, but more often than not you don't.
Sometimes they may give you some auction paper work also, but not often.

Andyp

Am I right in thinking that a car bought from an importers off the forecourt should have an MOT if its over 3 years old?

Is this a car you have imported yourself?

Just bought a 94 WRX that was imported 2 years ago (not by me) and the only history it came with was the 3 service records from after it was imported and the MOT.
My advise... find out as much as you can about the car... check to see what motor trade associations the dealer belongs to ... check all the paperwork thouroghly and get EVERYTHING the dealer tells you in writing (otherwise you don't have a leg to stand on if something goes wrong, regardless of any trading standards laws)... i just learned that the hard way.
