Wink

Errrmm..

There is a subaru accessory that is a black bit of plastic with subaru written on it that protects the rear bumper. it is about 2feet wide by about 3 or 4 inches from memory. Is this what you mean? in which case it just protects the paint on the bumper.

Had one on my last Wagon.

Other useful accessories that you wouldn't want to pay for but are damn useful if the previous owner has shelled out for them includes the boot liner which is thick plastic and stops any crap getting on the carpet and once a year you can take it out and give it a wash etc..

thanks guys, but no closer i'm afraid...

it's about 3" x 3" and colour coded, it's located on the top edge of the rear bumper, spot on the middle..! to me it looks like it may be a covering of some kind, thought about a repair of some sort, but what are the odds on it being dead centre???

Try putting your hand up inside the number plate opening, and see if you can feel a hole in the top of the bumper. Small hands, or the aid of a child might be useful here. Nothing like this on my '98 4 door. Sounds like a repair of some sort. My mate had one like this on a 406, where he backed it too close to his trailer b4 hitching up!!!!

4 door - so it's just me then...

it's well disguised, you can only really see it when waxing, as there's a small (very small!) height difference...

oh yeah, and it feels pretty solid when pressed too, so i don't think there's any sizeable hole in the bumper
