Default WRX Sti 2014-16

Hi all
I am looking for general advice regarding the WRX Sti from 2014 to 16.
I have had 4 previous Imprezas the last being a 56 plate WRX. I later found out this was known as a chocolate engine!
So, any nasties i should be looking out for on the last gen model.
What sort of mileage should it have had a cam belt change. I am seeing some cars on the Web having had the change at around 35000 miles.
Any advice welcome, even if it's don't touch one. I still probably will though .

Any engine could go wrong, most of 2.0 are old- ticking time bombs unless forged already.
2.5l newage or VA has the same issues, buy already forged

Thanks. I will ask the question of forged parts when I go to view.

I have an 16 plate sti brought from new. Had many mods including forged and I can tell you it is a joy to drive. The 2.5 has its inherent block issues as any ej25 but get it built right and the torque is just so much fun.

I’m sure not all 2.5 are chocolate engines , we just hear about the ones that are , as above get it forged run sensible power on my opinion as mines a Fsti 330 to 340 or so , not more than 400 as I’ve seen cranked liners at 400 , so an Sti 350 or so , and then you have a very good engine , my 2 litre sti jdm wagon with around 340 plus was very easily shown a clean set of heels by the Fsti 👍

2l jdm sti wagon vs 2.5l forester statement is misleading
Wagon sti is singlescroll with most probably different gear ratio 6 speed than on later 2.0 twinscroll cars

So I had a 2 litre single scroll 2001 sti jdm wagon , the mapper mapped both cars , the sti wagon bigger turbo more boost more power , the lesser powered jdm 2.5 Fsti was much quicker 0 to 60 and everything else , me driving the wagon hard could not keep up with the fsti , the fsti smaller turbo less lag less bhp but mote torque made a big difference

Gear ratio wise the wagon was the jdm shorter 6 speed box and a mentally high 😂 rev range , Fsti was the standard 6 speed , it’s not true in the Forster you get longer ratios , it’s the same box as the sti box 👍

not strictly true.........in basic terms the early 6spd Impreza cars got 'short' ratio versions whilst the FSTi used a longer geared version (still close ratio)
this was what they basically used in the later Hawk STi's

I never liked the jdm shorter ratios , I was always thinking on a motorway if there was a 7 speed option 👍😁 the Fsti they said was supposed to be higher ratios in 4 5 6 , but my friends spec D Impreza was the same ratio as same rpm at the same speed , don’t know if dccd would have been a good addition

I assumed all the later sti boxes were the same ratios ? but I get the idea from what you are saying that this was not the case , I never liked as I said above the shorter jdm ratio box , it would have probably been better with the longer ratio box , I sold it on in the end , a very nice rust free car but very laggy compared to the fsti 👍

twin scroll jdm sti, 8k revs, other diff ratio makes a difference ,You catch 60mph on 2nd where on UK car You need to put 3rd
no way 2.5l with smaller single scroll could match vf37 or vf36 on 2.0
Yes jdm 6th is short ,cruising 70mph it shows 3.4k revs but when You floor it You have full boost in no time
