Default Removing widetrack rear arch trims

Hi all,

2007 STi Hawk.
I have some rust on both sides on the rear wheel arch lip underneath the widetrack arch trims.
I'd like to remove the trims once the weather gets a bit warmer, and treat the rust etc, but how do they come off?
Plus, what's the best black paint to paint the inner arches? I have Stonechip, but any other products that work well and last well?

Did maybe Shreksta do this?

Check out this ebay link and look at the images to see how they are attached.
However if they have been removed before it's possible that some or all of the clips will have been damaged.

Ah Don thank you. Handy to know the location of the fixings.
I wonder if I can see / pinch the clips from the inside of the inner arch, or if they have to be prised off from the outer 1/4 panel.

A lot of folk use raptor truck bed paint on the underside of vehicles nowadays. Can be tinted to colour as well.

Yep, I've got BH Hydrate 80, Dynax UC, Deox C and Atom Mac always in stock!
I also use their snow foam and Auto Wash.
If ever I've had a question for BH, it's always Pete Hamber himself who replies to my email.

Sounds like the rust will need cutting out, what you will be able to see will prob be least worse.

Yes that's very likely.
Wondering how to get the trim off, I can see from the picture above where the fixings are, maybe I need to prise it off with a plastic trim tool.

Be very careful as the white clips are not listed as a separate part to the "protector assembly".
Hence the previous warning. A lot get re attached with Tiger seal or similar......

Ive not long replaced mine, you wont get them off without breaking them, they can be bought from icp in the correct colour, i was replacing mine anyway as they were quite chipped.

I think I'll leave them on and mask off the bottom edge and do what I can with the rust on the arch lip. I know it won't be a proper job, but I'm not risking it.
I remember on my STI Blob years ago taking out the rear seat base....I clipped the lower part of the arch trim by the door jamb...it snapped clean off!
