Default Cooked brake pads?

Hi all,

2007 STi
I kept my old Brembo discs, slight lip, not much, and about 4 or 5 months ago fitted Brembo SP 2000 front pads, 3k miles ago.

I'm getting a kind of deep woooooooovvvvvvfffffffhhhhh (it's hard to describe ok!) sound at higher speed braking, more noticeable under the first cold braking application, and the sound gets deeper when I draw to a halt You can see below that the disc has some blueish spots / streaking on it. I can feel vibration / slight wobbling through the brake pedal / steering wheel at the higher speeds.

I did have to shave the pad edges down slightly so they fitted in the standard Brembo calipers, but from memory there was no binding and they slotted in nicely. I suspect I needed to grind the edges down due to a bit of corrosion under the sliders pinching a bit perhaps.

I can't remember the brake shim situation on that wheel, and I've not had a look into it yet, but assume I fitted the old shims back.
The only issue is the NSF wheel, OSF is fine / quiet etc.

Is the disc and are the pads now toast? Brake fluid only changed a few years back, fluid level fine.

I would take the current pads out , give the callipers a bit of a clean , re fit pads make sure they are loose so file back if needed , and have a bit of copper ease on them and see how you go , it’s known brembos need a re fresh every so often , then see how you go 👍😁

As above a good clean will hopefully sort it. Once had a similar issue and it turned out to be a slightly worn wheel bearing ?

Give the calipers a good clean, get the pistons working and clean the seals etc make sure its all moving freely.
I know you could fit Evo Brembo pads but they were a nats ******** thicker,
Are you sure it wasnt anything like that?

It's possible, I may need to take a shim out.

not sure how thick your nat's ********* are but std STi ones are nominally 14.7mm and the EVO version 16mm
