Default Noticed some rust.

Evening all.
I have noticed a small amount of rust on my rear right wheel arch. I was just after some opinions on the best course of action. As it only really small is it worth taking it to a garage. Or would some sort of rust eating paint be ok.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

cheers chappy.

Put some hammerite rust converter on it, wait until it changed from rusty red to black. Rinse off with water, dry, prime and paint then put some clear coat over it to seal. You can but touch up kits on ebay. Dont use a brush, its best to use a paint applicator. They look like a small pointed ear bud.

Expect it to reappear, though.
Rust there is often a sign it's coming through from the inside.

From the looks of it, just seems like it's surface rust. Check the insides of the arch to be sure this is it. If so, rubbing it back to bare metal, prime and paint should sort it out.

Going to get a quote from a garage tomorrow just for an idea of costs. Is this common on 2004 blobs?

Jesus mate it looks miniscule! As long as it isnt on the inside of the arch(have a look with a small mirror)just scratch the rust away with something sharp, then touch it up.Then just keep an eye on it. I would imagine a bodyshop would ave a right giggle if you took it in with what looks like a stone chip with a bit of surface rust
