Default Closest spring to the Prodrive P1

Hi,

I have a V6 STI type RA and the suspension is tired so I've been looking at options.
specifically I've been trying to find P1 springs but have come up empty.
Does anyone know of a similar spring?

Because of the cost of the original equipment I'm considering KYB AGX.
As these are not inverted as the originals are, do you think these would be a good replacement on the RA?

Centre of gravity which I use for geometry set up have suggested BC coil overs but I think they'd be too hard as this isn't a track car.

You couldn't use P1 springs with agx - the front spring is too short.
P1 194lb/in front 156lb/in rear.
V6 sti 236lb/in front, 195lb/in rear.
The inverted struts are £1000 a set.
Eibach did make the P11L spring set for me - now all sold. They were my take on the P1 springs. 6mm lower at the front + extended free length to accommodate inverted and non-inverted struts.
3 months-ish too make another small batch, if enough interest.

Glad you said that about the agx.
TBH I feel pretty unsure which way to go and as I'm booked in at Centre gravity next month I'm constrained by time or I certainly would have been interested.
I haven't seen the inverted for sale at that price, Centre gravity are also looking into getting the struts refurbished.

Can you advise a similar spring for original struts or for the agx?
They have suggested Eibach pro street but the spring rates seem very low.

You can't refurb the Subaru inverted struts - they use 39mm bearings. Re-greasing is pointless, as the bearings will be worn.

WR15R/T springs (230 front 200 rear) would work with agx - that was my lowered version of the V6 sti springs.

@TurboMaup had a set of wr15r/t for sale, they were too stiff for his French b-roads.

A set of bump stops/dust boots for the agx+wr15r/t are £65.

Your existing dust boots on the inverted struts are different to non-inverted dust boots.

Don't chuck your old inverted struts, I'm looking at doing inserts, after I've finished the newage versions.

Thanks for all the info, in my naivety I hadn't realised how difficult this was going to be. I certainly hadn't factored in bumpstops and boots (the latter I thought would come with my preferred choice.

I think the WR15R/T springs are probably too firm for what I'm looking for.

I'm not starting to think coil overs might be the simplest way to go, plus if I match the spring rates of the P11Ls I feel that I've a better chance coming close to the P1 setup?

In coilover spring rating: P1 springs would be 3.5Kg/mm front, 2.8Kg/mm rear.

I doubt you'll get a set of coilovers with that low spring rates - their damping curve will not accommodate spring rates that are that low.

BC do a 4kg/mm front, 3Kg/mm rear, long travel coilover set. They will need to be long travel coilovers as the lower spring rate means more suspension movement.

Don't think, for one moment, that basic coilovers will improve upon/equal good quality struts with the correct bump stops and correctly balanced springs.

Yes I've seen the 4/3.
I figured they would be close enough but as I'm sure you've noticed this is not my specialist subject!

You don't think much to the BCs?
Are they at least as good as The AGXs?

The new bump stops would just be the standard part I guess, same with the boots?
I came across another post of yours favouring the whitelines but as I've bought camber bolts they may be overkill.

You don't rate the BCs then or at least equal to the AGXs?

If I went for struts I guess the bump stops and boots would be the standard parts?
I saw elsewhere you recommended the whitelines but as I've bought camber bolts that might be overkill.

Eibach Pro Kit E7705-140 (For GC8)
With this spring kit the vehicle is 350 mm apart between the center of the rim and the edge of the fender profile, both front and rear.

Do you see the issue?

WRX spring v STI pink spring (for inverted struts):

Non-inverted agx v inverted sti strut:

I see,

I have had to go off the information I could find.
There seems to be a lot of people happily using agx with pro kits, h&rs amongst others but I didn't really want to lower the car 30+mm. I also contacted kyb directly who advised excel or agx is direct replacements along with every other car part search engine.
I don't understand how its so difficult to get quality OEM parts for these cars, I've never had this problem with the RX7....

So what's your opinion here, are you saying they'll fit but will always have pre-load or are you saying they just don't fit?

On a separate note if there's a current list for future order of the P1 copy spring I'd like to put my name down for future use.

I was in the loft in my garage today and found 4 brand new springs
2 are printed Eibach P1 Front, 2 are Printed Eibach P1 Rear they also have the numbers 21/06 and 24/06
One of the rears has a Prodrive tag and barcode saying for P1 rear, they are pink and have the protective clear sleeve.

I bought these on a visit to Prodrive many years go and never fitted them to any of my Imprezas and have just sat in my loft since in a box.

are these the same as the P11L spring or different again ?

Is there a current list i can add myself to for a set of p11L springs.
Thanks
