Default Does SORN impact insurance rates?

Hi all

I have a few bits to do to my car and want to SORN the car over winter until I have it all done.My car insurance and tax are currently up and I wish to renew in spring.

I have seen some insurance companies asking if car has been SORN in last while.

My question is, if I SORN car now, does it impact car insurance renewal rates come spring - if so it may be cheaper just to renew insurance and tax now

If it’s your pride and joy would it not be a good idea to have it insured TPFT , even if not used ?

Yes that's a good call actually - better safe than sorry. Insure it but cancel tax maybe??

I would rather pay and keep it insured even it not being used , worse case scenario could be stolen , trickle charger issue if you do , at least if it’s insured then peace of mind , and if it’s TPFT it’s normally a little cheaper to insure

Good choice hoped it did not cost too much to do and hopefully cheaper than insuring it to drive on the road

Sometimes fully comp can be cheaper as insurers know many go for tpft thinking it’s cheaper so they add a premium.
kinda like loose apples being cheaper...
