Factory Forged or not 400/450 bhp is as far as you want to go without rebuilding,

Taken from another post.

V7 (bug) JDM and UK pistons were forged.
V8 (non widetrack blob) pistons were forged on UK cars and hypereutectic on JDM cars.
All V9 (widetrack blob) and V10 (hawk) pistons are hypereutectic.

bug sti has forged pistons, semi closed deck block, screw in rods, shimless vale lifters, sodium filled exhaust valves and hollow valve intakes and a load of other enhancements. it was said that the bug sti engine was over engineered and hence a very strong engine.

Hypereutectic pistons are stronger than more common cast aluminum pistons and used in many high performance applications. They are not as strong as forged pistons, but are much lower cost due to being cast

WOUNDED!! Should have kept the bug

The most cost effective/strong base to mod from.

Yeah, don't know whether to keep standard or push it a little bit, been long time since I've modded ready for a map session. 💪ðŸ»Click image for larger version

I don't think you'd regret a few small performance mods - a decat and remap could see an extra 60-70 bhp.

No need for styling mods, though - looks great as it is IMO.

No versions after 6 but if you wanted to use them then you need to follow the rally car numbering, ie 7 and 8 are both bug, 9, 10, 11 are blobs, 12 and 14 hawk.

Forged pistons but your engine is no where near as strong as a new age STI.
