Default Help with purchase

Hi people I have been a Subaru fan since I was a lad and am now potentially in a position to be purchasing my first one. Im looking at a blob eye wrx sti, it has very low mileage and seems to be superb however with an older car I am cautious. I hear that these can have lots of issues and want to seek some advice on here. Is this true? Is it a general problem/maintenance issues etc etc any help will be much appreciated as I've been searching for the right one for around a year now despite looking constantly over the years. Wondering if my dream will be shattered or pleasantly surprised as going to look at it this Sunday. Thanks

If it is low mileage as you say then a full service history from reputable garages/dealers is a must.

Low mileage is not necessarily a good thing, what you want is a full service (documented is even better) history, even if its done 1000 miles between 1 year it needs a service, if its like this then that is stage one sorted.
You will need a HPI check also, look for crash damage, check for rust (even low mileage cars rust), subframes, around the windows and rear arches can be an issue, brake discs will show you if the car has been used regulary, check for uneven wear on the tyres but most of all, if you smell anything fishy, walk away, there are plenty more cars out there, and see what fuel its been run on, anyone who puts 95 ron in an STI is killing it, its 98 ron minimum (shell v power or tesco 99 ron are usually the best fuels).

HG was a issue on the 2.5 engines so should be good on a blobeye .

So no major issues with the 2.0 blob sti unless it's not been looked after? Any manufacture problems or common ones to go with this model ?

IIRC it's just the knocking rear shocks but if it's a low mileage car then they should be good!

Are you travelling far to go and view this?

The guy doesn't drive it barely he said once a month so wants to let someone have the joy of it as he's going to buy a house.

Other than the stuff already mentioned (seizing brake calipers, knocking shocks and rust) these cars are tough, even more so when you consider that they get a harder life than your average 4 door saloon (even if some get better treatment than an average 4 door saloon).
That car above has a fair amount of work done already, so I'd be interested in who did it. Are they reputable? Will they talk to you about the car?
Failing that, are there any subaru specialists near the car who could inspect it for you?
