Question E60 M5

Any owners on here?

Not for me (wish it was) but my mate is considering one. I'm trying to convince him to go for it, are they a good buy? We're talking sub £20k here, just interested in any potential areas or whether it's a good idea at all.

He's got plenty of money, but doesn't like spending it so I'd like to know how they work out from an ownership experience. He had a 2006 boxster before so he's no stranger to high tyre prices and dealer servicing. It'll be a weekend/evening car only, do these need time servicing or just mileage?

My mate just bought one last week. I think the only weakpoint is the clutch and flywheel which on his car was replaced under warranty at a £2000 cost.
It is a quick car for sure, but quite a revvy engine with it absolutely taking off when it hits 6500 rpm, oh and the sound of the v10 at high revs through a town or tunnel is immense, ALOT of car which be had for under £17000 now, but one thing his mighty v10 can't do that my 330d sport can..... Average 45mpg!!

I get around 17mpg around town out of mine.

Don't know why people are always complaining about mpg from a 5 litre V10 Super car chaser

What kind of mpg do the fezzas / lambos of similar age return?

17mpg is quite good. My average was more like 15mpg. It was the fuel consumption combined with the small tank that meant endless petrol station stops that annoyed me.

I agree though you can't expect much different from a near two tonne 500 BHP V10 that was as fast as most things on the road.
