Saab diesel - poor starting and hesitation
My workmate has a diesel Saab, 4 -5 years old, which has been in and out of garage all year!
Poor starting esp. from cold, and suffers hesitation at lower revs - up to 3000 rpm.
I know very little about diesels, but he has had MAF and other bits changed, although not had injectors cleaned or checked ... fuel pressure is OK.
Any one any ideas?

OK
He has a 2000 year Saab 3.0litre V6 diesel TID.
It's not a modern type of diesel but Is common rail.
Does that help?
The EGR has been out and tested, OK.
Not sure about fuel filter.

Had one of these in at work the other week....running like a dog,no power and diffcult to start...So set about looking for the egr valve, after about an hours work i finally got to it(inlet manifold, fuel rails amongst other thinhs had to be removed...)
Any how when i removed the top plenum it was chocked full of Coke/goo and the actual inlet hole had been reduced from around 40mm down to around the size of a penny..so totally decoked it all and whizzed it all back together....result...running spot on....so might be worth him taking the plenums of to check his...and the engine is an Izuzu v6 in them...
