Just after your opinion
If you had the choice of one, which one would you choose.
Thanks
Just to clear it up,
Im comparing the 02/03 RS4 and RS6
Not the New RS4 thats a bit out my budget

If its the new RS4, then that's where my vote goes.
Just looks a bit meaner IMHO and seems to get the thumbs up all over the motoring press...
Of course, to give an informed decision, I'd have to have a good few days driving both...lol!!! Pleeeease Mr Audi......

depends on how you like your driving, id go with a new rs4 for the ride and handling- i like a and b road charging through bends and a chasis that really feels alive under you. but if you like raw power and lots of it i think theres theres a strong argument for the rs6s turboed v8...

Recently sold my RS6 Saloon to get a new RS4 saloon. Both wonderful cars. The RS6 was just bigger than I needed.
The N/A engine in the RS4 is an absolutely wonderful piece of engineering with a sound to die for.

I had the same dilemma a while back, having looked at both I decided that the RS6 warranted the extra money. The RS4 is a great car, however the RS6 in my view was noticeably better in every area, which says a lot.
Mine is currently for sale here: Audi : Spotless, warranted Audi RS6 Avant although possibly not for much longer, I had somebody view this week who wants it but is just waiting for an imminent payout on a business deal.
Any specific questions you have about the 6 in general, let me know.
Edit: I agree with Dave however that the *new* RS4 is 'better' than the old RS6, but that's progress

And the RS6 isn't a real muscle car? It is, in fact, more so in every way, both on paper and in the reality of ownership.
Is it, frankly, brutal. And yet, refined, luxurious and cosseting.
Anyone that says otherwise obviously hasn't experienced both cars. Everyone is, of course, entitled to an opinion, even though it may be wrong
But facts are facts

Hmmm...again, which model are we talking here? If its the new RS4 then yes it sounds amazing, however if we are comparing original vs original, then the RS6 is the better sounding even with a standard exhaust. However, you should hear one with a miltek!

I have a ABT Milltek'ed 505bhp Daytona RS6.
Fantastic car if you have a child and need the space but can't quite give up your old ways!
IMHO the only thing desirable about the old RS4 is the manual gearbox although I must be getting old as I love the ease and relaxation of the auto/tiptronic box on the RS6.

For me it'd have to be the RS6. Has to be an Avant regardless due to having a dog, and when I sat in an S4 Avant I found that the seat had to be a fair way back for me to be comfortable and that severely limited the rear passenger space behind me. When I tried the same thing in a 6 I didn't have that problem.
Bit of a moot point for me though as the RS6 Avant wasn't imported to Canada, and it looks as though the new S6 Avant isn't coming here either

I have an RS6 Avant (though not for much longer as I've got a new 335d M Sport Touring coming soon). Most people buy these cars because they want/need the combination of performance with practicality. I've voted for RS6 because the RS4 simply isn't quite big enough to play the role of practical family car. If carrying kids in childseats and buggies wasn't necessary then the scales would tip in favour of the new RS4.

Gary - you say an RS4 Avant wasn't big enough, but now you go for a 3 touring? I thought they were also criticised as lifestyle estates?

agreed (remarkably!! ) about hte E46 - my mate went from a Vectra hatch (with the TARDIS-like boot) to a 3 series Touring...........
and the boot isn't brilliant.
Perhaps it's just me, but my S4 Avant's boot seems bigger.... or perhaps it's just more useable.....
maybe

Torpid and ScoobyDoo are right - there is a big difference between the E46 and the new 3 series in terms of rear legroom. There will still be a little less room than the RS6, but I won't be being kicked in the back by my eldest (I hope anyway!!!)
Cheers,
Gary.

I'd love an RS6, but thats not to say that i wouldn't be just as happy with the RS4.
I think the extra size is what would sway my decision if i was in the position the make one!
Yours looks awesome Phil, have you any more photos?
