335d M-Sport Touring
I picked up our new BMW 335d M Sport Touring today - here are a few (lo-res) pics.

It's still only got 37 miles on the clock and I'm running it in very gently to begin with, but even now it's obvious just how far the game has moved on with respect to previous cars I've owned. I think I'm going to love this car - just need to hide the keys from my wife

Really nice, fancy a wee go in one of these... Nice colour combination but I'm not a fan of the wheels, just look a wee bit too fussy.

Thanks for the positive comments.
Re interior - having the prof sat-nav with the big colour screen improves it a lot...but in some respects it does feel cheap compared to the Audi, e.g. plastic door handles and other bits instead of aluminium.

Not for the money you pay for the car they arent. If it was VW or ford money then yeah, but for what BMW charges its not. BMW is the 3rd most profitable car manufacturer going by the profit they make per vehicle, and that profit is mainly comming from the below par interior.
Once the new C-class, A4 and A5 hit the market bmw 3er sales will slide.

But what sets the 3 series apart is the way it drives. Neither me or my wife have ever really been "into" BMW's, aren't really a fan of anything Bangle, and it was added to our short-list almost as an afterthought. The salesman said on the phone that the car would "sell itself" on the test drive (yeah yeah I thought), but he was right.

You seem to miss the point. BMW interiors are fine and certainly better than those of a Mercedes. In fact, they're better than 95% of mass produced vehicles. It just happens that for interiors, Audi is in that top 5%!
It's just a shame that Audis are not as good to drive. I've not driven an Audi ( and I include TT, RS4, RS6 and new RS4) that drives as well as any of my 330d's and certainly no where near my E46 M3 or E39 M5.
Shame, as the interiors are so promising!

The RS4 is in a completly different league to the E46 M3 so lets not even start that discussion.
The new TT is a better car than the Z4, the Z4 is better for the track, but as a everyday drive the TT wins hands down. It has already won countless awards including many for best drive of the year.
The new A6 outsells the 5er in germany, and thats all that needs to be said on those two, the 5er is a better drive, but as cars overall its neck and neck.
The A8 is regarded by many a superior drive to the 7er never mind trying to compare it to a S8. The S8 has the best interior in its class, even easily outdoing that of the brand new S-class.
Some BMW interiors are better than mercedes ones but it depends on each model. I have been in the E60 M5 and quite frankly for 60k the interior is poor. Things rattle and the components making plasticy clunking sounds. These are not found on equivelant MB and audi models. You can get a car for 25k which has a better interior than that of the BMW M5.
The thing with BMW is, for example with the new 3er, unless you spec it up well the interior can come out rather poo. First E90 I got in I was shocked at the quality of the interior. The plastics looked like it came out of a focus.
Admittedly I think BMW make the best seats, audi ones can be a tad too hard at times, maybe due to the thicker leather beings used.
BMW are finally gonna have to raise their game as audi and mercedes are out for 3er blood.

AudiLover,
I think you'd better take those blinkers off and look at the big picture.
The new RS4 is a great car but when Evo magazine put it against the e46 M3 CS the conclusion was that the M3 was still the better car. So when the e92 M3 comes out what do you think the conclusion will be then?
It's easy to read magazines (like we all do) and come up with opinions about things but when your talking to people that have actuall owned the cars maybe you listen a little more, and not have a cart blance attitude that one manufacturer does everthing better than anyone else.

Audilover,
The RS4, new or old, is seriously lacking in the involvement department, so you're absolutely right when you say it's in a different league to the M3. It's just that I suspect you have the RS4 in the wrong league. For the record, I think that the E60 M5 is not brilliant on the inside, but what an involving drive for nearly 2 tonnes of car.
Take your Audi blinkers off and actually go and drive some of these cars that are "inferior" to an Audi. I'm not disputing that Audis are beautifully put together, but so many people want so much more from their cars. If people cared that much about the build quality of their cars, nobody would buy Japanese, American, Italian etc etc.
One of, if not the most involving car that I've driven was a new NSX. Now the interior is pretty dire, and to be honest, most German cars knock spots off that aspect of the car. However, for sheer driving pleasure and involvement, it was sublime. Give me that over an understeering, poorly suspended, over assisted RS4/RS6/S8/TT anyday.
You enjoy your "build quality" and I'll enjoy the other 95% of the ownership experience.
