Default Suzuki Swift

Thinking of getting one of these. I'm talking about the new model (just out). It's a 5 door and looks very smart. Anyone driven one?

Thanks

We're thinking of one to replace the 99 1.3 Micra.
But there is now the Micra 160SR.
Then early next year a Swift Sport.
Gonna test drive the 160 and Swift soon.
I do like the look of the Swift. Flared arches, widest track in class, looks a little bruiser.

Test driving the 1.5 GLX manual and automatic on Monday.

Very well equipped for £8,995 for the manual -

Air Con
CD Player with 6 speakers
Electric Windows
Electric Door Mirrors
Power Steering
Keyless Start
15" Alloys
Body kit
6 airbags
ABS
Multi function steering wheel thingy
Remote Central locking
Front Fogs

I think it's 100 bhp, but will find out and let you know.

i also drove the glx ......not bad tbh but i did go out in the ignis sport straight after which made it feel a bit boring. Its fun to rev it hard and it does go quite well. Never got a chance to test the handling properly but it felt well planted and communicated quite well.

It is 100bhp.

Shame the 3 dr is the 1.3 only would fancy the 1.5 in a 3 door. Very nice looking car think they are onto a winner and seeing quite a few on the roads now

Thanks.
If you get a chance to take it on a dual carriageway and/or Mway, I'd be particularly interested in your view on the refinement at those speeds.
You know, true 70.
Then, is it as "chuckable" as it looks on B roads.

I had a look at a swift with my mother as she was looking for a new car. they are quite nice but dealer was a tale. build quality is some thing to think about if keeping for ages but if you change every coupke of years then depreciation in suzuki's is prety hurendous. as for the micraSR 10K for a 110bhp micra imo is poor although less depreciation and better build.

why these two? why not a C2, Colt, Lupo etc?

If your struck on the Suzuki then I would wait till new year. just over 10K gets you the new suzuki swift sport which looks top and has 3 doors rather than 5. I recon that model will be all over by spring now it will have 3 doors. bargain

My wife is just taking lessons now and thought a Swift would suit and that was purely just looks that attracted us. I had a 91 GTI when I was about 19 and I loved it but these new ones look so much better......like a small car that looks big but as so many of you have commented on they only have 3 door in the 1.3 which is gutless.

I presume they will bring out a bigger engined 3 door but then will you be talking above the 10k mark? Thats when C2 VTR becomes the better option. Quicker and cheaper!!!

Yep, the other half had one delivered last Thursday, (1.5 GLX)

To say the least I'm well impressed with it, not got the acceleration of the scoob but not expecting that, on the motorway it pulls very well in top, @ 3000rpm your doing above the speed limit by about 9 miles an hour and delivering 45-50mpg.
All the equipment mentioned by others on here are Well above the usual Japanese standard more like Europian and the ride is not to harsh, all round a good 2nd car,

On the down side, my only criticism is that you sit very high in the car for my liking, I like the fact that your can adjust the seat for reach and height like the new age scoobs but still to high for me.

My advice is go and get one, but don’t pay £9k for it...! We didn't....!

If it's any help we used Anthony Betts in Hemel Hempstead, Delivered it on the back of a transporter (400 miles round trip) at no extra cost and like I said before WELL under £9K.

Problem is, look at reliability surveys and where are Suzuki, then Citroen.
For me, I do use those surveys when deciding what to get.
I expect a modern car to start first time and have very few "teething" problems.
Touch wood, that's what we've had from Nissans, the Scooby and before the Scooby a 16v Astra GTE.
Others may disagree, but looking around various forums, French cars do seem to have more than their fair share of problems.

Thanks for the dealer tip, I'll get on to them.
What colour did you go for?
I fancied the yellow but Mrs. V said no and it's her work car so fair enough!
So red, white or pearl black.
Anyone seen it in white 'cos I haven't.

She went for the Kashmir blue in the end, now we have his and hers matching colour cars as it matches very well with my World rally Blue on the scoob

Test drove a 1.5GLI Auto. Not bad at all. Loads of space (a lot in fact). Very good headroom. Granted you do sit high, but this does improve visibility. Not bad materials used for the seats and dashboard. Good spec and looks great in metallic grey and blue. Looks a bit like a Mini, but without paying the silly prices. Good little car even for the motorway. The car I drove did have only 39 miles on the clock and was very tight. This reflected in the high engine noise, which was a bit poor.

I then test drove the 1.3 TD GLI Manual. What a difference. Ok sounded like a tractor on startup, but after 5 minutes was in fact quieter than the 1.5. Very good mid range punch from about 2.5k, so better for m-way driving. Apparently on the combined does 60mpg!!! Deffo will put this on my shortlist.

Thanks for the feedback.
We've yet to drive it or the Micra 160SR.
We will soon but I think another month or so might mean deals will be better.
Please don't tell me the oil burner is the best. I can't cope with that.
