Clio Williams engine and no windscreen IIRC.
I remember popping into the showroom in T Wells to ask about it, very helpful and eager salesman, and finally I asked the price - £27k. I commented that that was a lot, considering a Caterham was 18K and an Elise was 21k (or thereabouts). He turned back to his desk and dismissed me with a "well, when you win the lottery perhaps you can buy one".
(Last laugh was on me - I had cash for three in my bank account...)

Well worth finding. They have sequential gearboxes -- make sure you get the cable-operated version, because the solid linkage version has a tendency to change gear when you go over bumps. Look at the underside and see if it's been run at an incredibly low ride-height for racing. Make sure you wind the ride-height up for road and trackday use.
PS: there are three for sale on Pistonheads

However, they handle like a dream and go quite well as they weigh bugger all- I drove one at Oulton a few years ago and loved it.
If its a weekend car then have a drive and if you like it buy it, if its a daily driver buy a vectra like the majority of the other scoobynet users

Weren't they actually not that light, and hence slower than anticipated, which killed them? Also the Elise came out at a similar time and did the job properly, with a windscreen to boot.

Solid rose jointed suspension as I remember. Great for the track but will wear quickly and start to knock (easy change though)
The aero screen was not used for the all versions, they had a little screen.
Top Speed 199.6 kph / 124.0 mph 0 - 60 mph 6.6 seconds
Top Speed (Km/h) 215 Km/h 0-100 6,9 seconds
0 - ¼ mile 15.3 seconds 0 - 100 mph 18.4 seconds
Lateral Acceleration 0.88g EPA City/Hwy 28 / 38 mpg

I had a go in one, when they first came out, iirc, the performance was staggering, scared the ****e outta me, weird looking, but idividual at the same time. when I had a go it was just up and down a very long hotel drive, but all the same enough to realise it was quick. I didnt even have a licence then, the bloke that owned it just said go and have a go. (he saw me slobbering over it)
im just looking at a caterham for me, id consider one of these if I could stretch to the price tag.

Oh and from memory the reason they didnt take off at the time was that they came out about the same time as the Elise. The Elise had a slightly better chassis and a lid, which made it a winner.
We saw a spider at the ring last weekend and I have to say it caught my eye. Something very rare and very different. A forgotten car me thinks.

They certainly look sh1te IMO - some student car designer with a squint and a wonky pen came up with that monstrosity...
If they're 6.6 to 60 then they aint whacking much punch.
They dont have a windscreen so you'd have to look like Biggles to avoid chewing on bugs in summer months...
I cant think of a worse weekend car from what I've seen on this thread...Shocking
