R32 skylines
#1
Hello all.
I am having a thunk about possibly buying one of these cars. there is a very tidy one tuned to around 330 brake local to me.
Has anyone owned one of these car? If so, what are the pitfalls of them and at what milage did they occur? Were they all jap imports? Are they expensive to service / run if driven sensibly most of the time?
Anything i have missed?
I will also post on the skyline forum, but this is just as knowledable / busy!
Thanks in advance.
David

I owned an R34 VSpec with 410 bhp and it is the same engine (RB26DETT) in the R32. Your state of tune is only marginally above standard spec (theoretical 280 bhp ish). Mine never gave a moment's concern (and this is the standard for a Skyline). They are pretty bulletproof with regular oil changes avery 3K miles.
Only downside is proximity to the nearest specialist (in your casr Rod Bell at RB Motorsport near Wigan) and the hassle IF anything does fail of getting replacement off the shelf.
Your's could be upped to 400bhp VERY easily on your standard turbos with an upgraded intercooler, boost controller and Apexi FC ECU. Then there is little on the road to touch them. I now have a modded 993 Carrera 4 with 309 bhp and it feels slow in all areas against my R34-probably the best car on the road, and I only sold mine as it was too tempting to keep upping the power as in the case of a friend here in Aberdeen who has an everyday drivable R34 Vspec 2 with over 800BHP ( he won the 1/4 mile shoot out at TOTB (and then drove the car home to Aberdeen). Bulletproof even at that level of tune (if you want a datalogged 6.3 secs to 100mph). More info would be available on www.gtr.co.uk
