Where can I get slicks and wheels from, cheap?
Any suggestions welcome

I tried in vain to source some Part worn slicks for a track day in 15". You can find most other sizes in Motorsport News. Vectra challenge, & other single make racing series often use slicks for one venue only and then they go into the "part worn" arena. Problem is that no-one uses 15" in their single make series. Often 16" and above.

I decided on getting some remould slicks, excellent value for money and have lasted very well. Went for Colway F2's which only come in their "Forumla" compound. An alternative might be Maxsport remoulds which come in a range of compounts.

I bought my Colways from EARS Motorsport (Escort and Rally Spares).

Blackscooby - what are they like - esp how quickly do they warm up? Will they last a whole 20min track session without going off?

My Yoko A539s are ok on track, but wanna try a semi-slick to see what the difference is...

Not too bad to be honest. Grip really well when warm, however seemed to go off a little quicker than I was expecting. We did a track day at Ty Croes in Anglesey which is about as twisty as they come. Probably started slip sliding after around 15 mins or so.

When they cold.. oooh my God shocking !

i use Yoko 038r SS on my track pug and they are great. cost about £100 per corner though. I wouldnt recommend using slicks on a car without a dry sump..asking for trouble

Tidied garage tonight, discovered a pair of part worn Yokohama 15" grooved slicks from my old Astra rally car, which used 6x15 rims.

Should be fine for a Pug.

I've got some 15" tsw evo's(old style) in white,ford/pug fit, with nearly new maxisports(as in your picture above) on em,vgc,£250. they're not as good as xo4 Dunlops, but they are'nt £110 a tyre and they last longer too!give us a ring if interested,

I've also got 2x yoko a539's,just about gone illegal, in 195/50/15 that you can have for free if you can pick em up,I'm in berks.

Have you thought about getting some of the R type Yokohamas?

I used Maxsport FIA style slicks (same tread pattern as the Colway shown) on the rallycar for single venue (grippy tarmac and concrete) events when I first started then moved onto the A032R Yokohama which are worlds better in terms of grip level IMHO. Yoko also do the A048R tyre as well. Both come in 15" and both are road legal so you can drive to the event and back on them too. FIA slicks are NOT road legal unless youre in competition if they have the "for competition use only" markings on the sidewall..

Blackscooby - the 206 challenge uses 15" tyres.

Hurray my Colways don't say "for competition use only" hence road legal

206 Challenge use 15" ~ really, cool. Still couldn't source any but worth re-visiting when I want some more.
