I used to go when the BTCC was at its peak in the 90s. I remember that traffic used to be bad and they shut all the back roads to stop you nipping around the back. I do not think the series is a popular these days so should be a little quieter.
I used to stand on the outside at Knickerbrook, which often good for some overtaking moves, or on the run down to Cascades where you get a good view over the curcuit.
Which circuit do they use now, it used to be the full length but I think they have reduced it now?
Have a great day, and wave a flag for Plato for me.

I will be there, in the stickered up scoob

We usually hang around Knickerbrook, although since they changed it last year, its a bit more tame than it used to be

Traffic last year was a complete nightmare, the year before we drive straight in no problems, not sure what time we are leaving yet, but i am only half an hour away

Ive just been looking on the oulton park website and there seems to be 5 car parks, with the main entrance taking you onto the inner car parks.

but if i wanna stand at knickerbrook how do i get to the car park there, as this is on the outside of the circuit and by the looks of things off Rushton Lane or is it all sign posted once into the circuit.

They are using the island ciruit, dont think its the full circuit, but still has a hairpin section in.

Thanks

Mark

I spent the day there today. They have road works on the A49 just before Oulton Park turning down to one lane, if you are coming in from M56 (Sandiway Shell Petrol Station) then it is going to be bad. Knickerbrook is the best for viewing and is signposted from the A49, the route takes you past the turning for Oulton (opposite the garden centre) and a mile or so further down the A49. Had a good day shame about Huff in the Seat, he had a very big off at Cascades in practice, they got him out with 8 mins to go in qualifying car needed a bit of handy hammer work to straighten it out.

Sonic,

does your number plate resemble SCOOBY by any chance, if so i think i arrived at exactly the same time as you.

Blue fully stickered up scooby, with 2 blokes sat in it both wearing subaru T-Shirts, at around 10:30am, my kid went mad when he seen it???

if it was you, you made his day

Oh had a great day by the way, took a B road route right into the Knickerbrook viewing area, missed out the A49 and A54, but dont think they where that bad anyway.

Great viewing position from Knickerbrook, especially good for seeing the dodgy overtaking when approaching and going through the chicane !!!!

Mark yes that was my car

it was only me with a scoob t shirt on, my bro in law had an Italia T shirt on, but it was blue

Which was your motor then ?

We sat down at Knickerbrook again, some good action, and lots of tyres flying around the place too

Saw a few Scoob Hat & T Shirt wearing folks too

and a few other scoobs

Hi Sonic,

I was the Grey Audi S3 to your left hand side as we paid to go in.

Yeah great days action, and they just couldnt leave them tyres alone at the start of the chicane.

Scooby brigade where out in force, saw a quite a few t-shirts and caps around and even 2 P1's , Kid wasnt too impressed by them as they never had gold wheels !!! as well as plenty other scoobs, really nice white one ive got a piccy of and i saw a really nice black bug eye (with light conversion of course).

Had te leave early though so missed the last BTCC, probably would have caught it if the Clio hadnt flipped!!!

Well worth the £25, them Touring cars are mental, on the first lap of both races i saw, there must have been about 12 cars all gunning it down the straight then hard onto the brakes into that chicane, must half been about a foot between each car and none between some, excellent!!

not sure how fair the flipping of the first 10 on the grid is along with all them weight penalties flying around but it makes for great spectating.

Ill definately be there again next year and will also have to see where else the BTCC is this year.

Cheers Sonic,

I left before I read your post. Think Ive got sun stroke.....

Good day, out my nephew was made up, he sat in some MG thing and the nice lady started it up for him. So he obliged with a boot full, from cold.

Also Jason Plato posed for a photo with him.

He got his brochure thingie signed by Plato, and Muller, with a photo.

And a nice signed 'T' shirt from a nice lady Seat driver. OK she came last, but her car at the end of the race was as it was when she got in it.

I enjoyed the racing, and getting in amongst the Virgin mobile ladies..

Sonic if I mail you some piccies can you post em....?

Cheers Yoza

LOL Yoza, Ive got sun stroke too I think

Yep, mail me the pics, I took quite a few, but being at Knickerbrook you get all the mesh fence too

I saw them virgin girls, one of em must have either been in pain or very happy

Ahh I saw the S3, I was with my bro (he was in a new shape megane, and we got split at the entrance, and tried to rejoin once inside after the pay booths

Ive been going to Oulton to watch BTCC for last few years now, and its always well worth the money, and some fantastic racing from all the events

Clio Cup is one definatly not to miss, (even better with a spot of rain)

I like the ballast, swapping of the grid order etc, as it really does liven things up, and for a non contact sport, it makes great spectating

Roll on next year

Who's was the stickered scoob with a no.3 on it?

I was also at Knickerbrook, with Sal (scoobychick) I had a Ford Rallyesport cap on and mi blue Oakleys, Sal had a Subaru cap on for a bit....we had blue chairs, were sat right up to the wire fence, in front of a scoob, not mine! My Fiesta was just up that row towards the entrance

I was at Knickerbrook too and likewise, think I got a bit of sunstroke and v. sunburnt too

Was a good days racing. Just been watching it again on Motors on Sky

I was very impressed with Alain Menu in the Porsche, what a driver!
The Clio Cups were excellent to watch, shame there wasn't more of them.

That was my scoob with the stickers on

I parked almost behind a nice looking sonic blue scoob (X reg) too

Alain Menu was good, and yes there were less clios as the race progressed
