Default Good book recommendation

I've just finished 'Wool' by Hugh Howey, really enjoyed it. A good post-apocalypse themed book with a few twists.

Any other good reads?

James Barrington, Manhunt, it's a prequel, but worth reading first....

He's done several others about Paul Richter too.

Me too, but read 'em all.

I assume the OP has read all of Lee Childs' Jack Reacher stories? Excellent stuff.....

The Martian by Andy Weir.

Get it as an ebook if you can
The Martian eBook: Andy Weir: Amazon.co.uk: Kindle Store The Martian eBook: Andy Weir: Amazon.co.uk: Kindle Store

You can read the first few pages for free. To be honest, just reading the first 3 lines should convince you.

Stephen King's, 'Doctor Sleep' is a cracker. Been out a while now, but only just realised. Well worth a read.

Finished the Wool series too - top notch.

A co-worker suggested The Passage to me, as I was looking for something new to read. I did not know it was that old. The Twelve was also pretty good. The City of Mirrors is slated for an October release, can't wait!

As for other things to read, try Terry Pratchett & Steven Baxter's "The Long Earth" and "The Long War", part of a series, think the third one is "The Long Mars" due in June.

Another interesting, if geeky read is "Ready Player One".

I'm currently re-reading almost all the Discworld novels (I'm skipping a few, I don't really like Soul Music or Pyramids), up to The Fifth Elephant right now.

Oh, World War Z is worth a read, and / or getting the audiobook (complete edition version by Random House). Very different from the film, but very good.

I've also partially got through The Wolf Of Wall Street, which is amusing as the film (though I keep wanting to say "Steeeeevvveeeee Maaaadddddeeeennn" out loud )

Perhaps a bit young, but the "The Book of Ember" books (The City of Ember, The People of Sparks, The Prophet of Yonwood, and, The Diamond of Darkhold) are fairly good, though Yonwood did seem to drag on a little.

Apparently Ridley Scott's "Scott Free Productions" are working on the film and purchased the rights before the book was finished. Apparently Justin Cronin has filled them in what is coming, so they could well be doing the trilogy.
