Bike Valuation Please
Dear bike geeks,
I'm looking for an approximate valuation on this 2008 Specialized All Mountain. The spec is here: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/...01454#features
It's my cousins and he has covered all of about 20 miles in it since he got it. It looks to be in nearly new condition and cost £800 new. What should he be looking to get for it?

You could try e bay with a reserve. I,d be surprised if you got more than £250. As with anything technology is getting better and the second hand market for these bikes is flooded at the moment..

What size frame is it and where is it located? Looks a nice bike. Any more pics?
There's one on Ebay at the moment, the guy spent £700 on mods though and wants the bids to start at £610
If he does put it up for sale then put the price on here.

Sorry cant really help Kenny, i know very little about play bikes, other than they tend to be bombproof to deal with all the jumping and general urban abuse.

Need to check the frame size; I'd imagine 18". Located in Edinburgh and will be going up for sale on the basis that he's learned to drive and couldn't give a monkeys about cycling (not that he ever did!). That's the only pic we've taken. Essentially, looks like a brand new bike save for 3-years of dust and scratches where the chain catches the lower rear arm.
If it's only worth £250 my aunty will be raging at the £27.50 per mile depreciation!!!!

While I'd imagine it is designed to be so, the roughest action this particular bike has seen was the odd cycle off a kerb and negotiating the chuckies on the drive

I reckon you will get £350-400 for it.
As a 2008 bike it will be better specced than a new bike in the same price range.
Good conditioned used bikes go for good money on ebay.

lolz at the RC bargain chasers
£350-400 seems about right to me. I asked because I will advertise it on Gumtree, etc but I need to know a ballpark figure to start with. Will probably end up on fleabay as well. Is there likely to be enough demand to risk a 99p/no reserve start?

I think I would be tempted to put a reserve on it of at least a couple hundred, unless a friend can help you out with the bidding if it's too low!
Bikes I've looked at in the past seem to do quite well but I've never been looking at mountain bikes, road bikes are more my thing. I think it should do ok though.

^^^ lol.
Ed, not sure, I haven't looked up what the going rate is, whether the heefing charger is an upgrade or if it comes with that, how much the batteries are worth, etc. Feel free to make an offer in the meantime.
I will say that one of the front wheels is buckled - it still drives and turns but it does need repaired. I suspect the driveshaft is bent. The two aluminium upgrades pictured are front/rear hub carriers so the next owner can replace the shaft when fitting the new carriers. Guessing the shaft itself will only be a few quid. Otherwise it seems fine and runs well. Probably had a total of 1h use in its life
I had it out the other day and I can totally see the appeal of electric RC. So little hassle. However, I sort of missed the sense of occasion that comes from getting Nitro fuel in your mouth as you suck it through the lines, from skinning your hands starting the *******, and from pissing off every neighbour as run your nitro-RC.
