Default Looking for a hotel in French Alps - Anyone Help?

Didnt think this would be quite so difficult.

Im lookingfor 4 nights accomodation (4 rooms) from Sunday 19th Feb. I have flights sorted to Geneva and ideally want to be within an hour of the airport.

So Morzine, La Plagne, Les Arches, Chamonix, Les Gets, Flaine (would be 1st choice) and an other resorts a similar distance.

Most websites will only do a week or are a tour operator trying to do a package.

Do any SNers know hotels that do direct short break bookings or any decent web portals. Tried expedia etc.

We stayed in this one last year - Elderon and the (all UK) team who run it were terrific. Flexible on number of days etc - worth ringing as they're very helpful (and it was pretty cheap from memory). Easy walking distance to the bars etc - and we left our skis / boots in the hire shop so it was easy to get to the runs and it's a big ski area. (It's called Hotel Starski or something but used to be called Renardiere)

Good luck

Gordo

ps they sort the transfers for sensible money and ski passes etc as well

La Plagne is further on than the 3 valleys?

Next ish resort along from La Plagne/Paradiski is Tignes/ VdI. The Alpaka in Tignes le lac used to do weekend breaks and there are chalet / hotels in Tignes les brevieres that used to do short breaks, but it's during the French half term week that's why it's hard to find anywhere.

I thought it was La Plagne that was linked to Les Arches by that new chair lift? If not my error, thanks for info re french holidays, would the weekend after be easier to find?

To be honest my problem is not everywhere being booked but finding hotels/websites that i can view accommodation.

For quantity of skiing i probably agree with you but have been there many times and stayed in all three main resorts and some of the smaller purpose built ones. Just fancy a change.

Would really like Flaine as i have only been once and it was a good week.

Yep it is linked to Les Arcs (google Paradiski), but my point was that most of the biggest resorts are all off one west-east valley so it starts from the west with (big ones only) on the south side: Valmorel, the 3 valleys, La Plagne, then Les Arcs, then Tignes / Val disere at the end with La rosiere and Sainte Foy on the north side. I skied at every single one of those ( and a load of others aroud the world over the years)

The only way into that valley that they are all off is from the 3 valleys end so from Geneva you have to drive past the 3 valleys to get to La Plagne - Chambery or Lyon are just as good for access. Each of the resorts have their own websites like laplagne.com etc and each of them have a searchable accommodation portal on them. Just put in the dates you are looking for and loads of options come up. Alternatively Pierre & Vacances are worth looking at to get all across the Alps view.

Yep- a bit more than a chairlift the Vanoise Express is quite a ride - we stayed at La Plagne last year and will be back there for half term next month (after a sneaky long weekend at Alpe d'Huez next weekend) .

Following weekend should be better as you guessed, but check the websites and see.

Whatever happens enjoy - great snow so far this year.
