In about October a couple of years back, before they disintegrated, we saw a sofa we liked in John Peters. It was £950-ish. Whilst wandering around the sales the following January it was 'double-discounted' in a 'must end soon' sale for the 'reduced price' of.... £1350

You really need to be prepared to watch the price for many months to identify just when it is the best deal, but it does seem that the autumn may well be the time to buy. About 8 weeks before Xmas they ram the prices up knowing no-one is buying whilst they have Xmas to finance and that the sales are around the corner. Then, when they've justified the 'advertised at a higher price' regulations they offer the new year sale price, which is usually higher than the autumn price was.

They think we are all idiots, and they are quite right in doing so, mostly
