Default 4D Baby scans

Hi guys, some know the Mrs is expecting our first child. Due date is 9th March next year.

I stumbled across 4D baby scans on Youtube and instantly fell in love with the idea. I was naively under the impression that they would be very expensive and for the better off only. I think I was wrong

Just done a bit of research and found www.babyscan.co.uk which does them in various locations throughout the UK.

Me and Nat have provisionally booked a date for around the beginning of December when she will be approx 26 weeks as they say 26-30 weeks is an ideal time for a 4D recording. You can have several extras on top and the quality is outstanding. Approx. £90 plus any extras you may require.

Really excited and hoping that a time/date around what we provisionally booked will be ok.

Has anyone on here had any experience of this. I understand some may find it cheesey or slightly OTT but I'm not really bothered about that

Thoughts and experiences welcome guys...

Much clearer. They are amazing. My friend is preggers and she brought her scan pics in two weeks ago. She is due at Christmas. The pics were so clear it was almost unbelievable

I don't actually know why they call it 4d when it does look 3d. Couldn't tell you but as Lee said they're very very clear in comparison to the standard scans you would have done at 12/20 weeks etc. Have a look on the link I posted. Certainly something which I wouldn't mind paying for considering it's our first child.

The 4D relates to the images actually moving 2D and 3D images are still photographs.

Pontefract and Castleford mate. £90 which includes a couple b&w pics. DVD is £30 I think and colour stills £5 etc. It's near the xscape place off the m62 I think. Closest one to us.

I had one with my daughter, and at £79 that was cheap over 3 years ago.

Some people think it's pointless, but it was amazing. It's just so beautiful and odd to see that little baby moving away inside you. It's something you can treasure forever.

You have picked a good time to have it too. I was 32 week and the baby was so big, all you could see were knees and elbows all squashed be her face.
At 26 weeks all will be formed properly so you can have a great inside view!!

Just make sure that you tell the person that you eithr do/do not want to know the sex.

They class the fourth dimension as movement as it it filmed in real time, not just still images.

Not my thing personally as we didn't want to know the sex of the baby as it adds a nice suprise to the day.

Have seen a friends 3D pics so I imagine 4D will look amazing though

Totally understand as it's your personal choice on the matter. When provisionally booking however they do state to warn them if you do not wish to know the sex. Think Hysteria mentioned it earlier. So you could do this (if you wanted to) and still get the suprise on the birth date I guess. Me and Nat do want to know and will hopefully find out on the 20 week scan.

Sounds like it could be worthwhile. It does make me feel a little odd, not sure why, but I dunno there is something "non-human" about the images.

4D means it is a 3D moving image. Looks very interesting, shows just what they can do these days.

We would still prefer not to know the sex of the baby before it is born but that is just a personal thing.

I had it done, they are pretty good. When you look back after they are born, you really can see the likeness.
It looks a bit wierd, like they are made out of earwax, due to the colouring of the scan.

Be careful, if you don't want to know the sex, you can get a clue. We didn't want to know, but as the operator was moving the ultrasound probe thing about, I spotted something inbetween the legs.

Not sure when the next baby show is on?? But, babybond usually have a stand. They do great package deals a fair bit cheaper when you book. Don't just expect to have one on the day though, it's sure to be full up.

a 4D image of the thing that will ultimately hate you and financially cripple you seems like a steal at £90.

When the missus was pregnant last year, we was considering one of these, but in the end she really didn't like the idea. She thought it was too intrusive on the baby.

Women + pregnancy + hormones = "Yes Dear"

Nat was the one pushing to try it. Something about it making it more real. I like the idea and she really does hence our questions on others experiences.

we had ours done at around 26 weeks, worth while and would have it done again, plus they do check for cleft lips and any spinal issues etc, also good for peace of mind as from the last at 20 weeks it seems a life time till he arrives.

on our dvd you see him grab the cord and put it in his mouth

Get it done, Andy, you'll spend the £90 on beer otherwise

Here are some of the pics. You might be able to make it out.

Two of the normal ones I had due to complications.

First is the worlds grumpiest baby to be caught on camera before birth - http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/a...3/36ce0d01.jpg

Secondly is when me found out - http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/a...3/2d0e7649.jpg
