So pubs will (hopefully) be free to get their live football from wherever they want in Europe and Sky wont be able to do a thing about it, fantastic!
The monopoly Sky has on football is scandalous, as well as the money they charge. Hopefully this will bring a bit of balance to things.

This can only be good. I hope more foreign satellite content providers start catering for the UK market. (Canal, Tring, orbit, Digitalb etc).
Can't remember the exact figure one of our local pubs was charged to host Sky TV, but it was a five figure fee! They even had a fund raising event in order to pay for it
The hypocrisy here is Sky gears Sky UK to be UK only to UK residents. But it happily turns a blind eye to the intermediaries that allow expats living abroad to subscribe and use Sky UK abroad (think of all the "English" pubs in Spain). Sky knows full well people outside the UK use their services, but it seems because they are getting an income from this (monthly subs), they are happy to take the money. Yet when someone in the UK does the same to get a foreign satellite they cry foul. Hypocrits.

All the bars in Cyprus have Sky aswell but alot fo them are not actually getting it from Sky per se but a Greek tv provider whose name escapes me. The Irish pubs here in Germany have sky aswell which are all registered to various addresses in Ireland. There is a company here that will provide you with sky TV but it is twice the price Sky charge.
Sky recently bought the German premium tv channel Premiere and we can now legitemately get SKY here but in German. I can also get SKY through my Cable tv provider.

And Sky are the same lot whole try to preach to our Government that the BBC should be broken up, and not be able to charge a licence fee.
Why? So they can then take all the decent programs, stick it on Sky, and charge people £50 a month to watch them.

BBC should have been made a subscription service when the digital switch over occurs. Just swap the license for a viewing card.
Most good DVB TVs and set-top boxes have an empty PCMCIA slot that can take a CAM viewing card module. So the technology is here right now - so why can't they use it?
But I guess the TVLA was scared it would lose its funding or its directors are part of the political "old boys club" , so stuck to its draconian and outdated System of scaring people with threatening red letters.

Cam slot good in theory but pointless.
Nobody is going to buy a cam for every freeview equipment they have.

So you'd have to pay another subscription for your HDD recorders and other tv's in the house?
What's stopping the pikeys giving their secondary cards to their neighbours?
