Default focu rs misfire

this is what happens when a focus rs has a misfire whilst under pressure oh and this is a standard road car not modified and is a common problem

basically what happens is when it misfires it puts fuel into the inlet manifold which can get ignited which is whats happened here and the view throught the bonnet scoop is whats left of the inlet manifold lol

Looks like the air box is what blew.

I think the welds held on the intake manifold.

My jag blows its airboxes off all the time...no turbo needed. Blew a hole through the air filter once. Its a bit happier these days as I've fixed the enrichment switch (typically not shown in the workshop manual nor wiring diagrams).

I guess thats why some of the pintle caps on the fuel injectors had broken.


Most impressive was when the MAP sensor failed....it blew smoke rings out the tail pipes and backfired like a canon!

Pretty much all manfacturers use plastic manifolds now.

They don't suffer that problem, though.

what you can see is the inlet manifold not the air box the holes are the inlet ports to the head gonna cost 4k to fix nice
