Default Referendum on PR

It's ironic that a referendum on PR would have to be held under the "first past the post" system.

I very much doubt it

Can't see a confusing multiple choice referendum happening, far more likely to be a straight Yes or No vote on a particular form of PR

Even if it's a yes/no question it will still be "first past the post" - or would we move to a system where y% of the seats are determined by PR and n% determined by first past the post (where y and n are the proportion of yes and no votes)?

I think you need a holiday to get away from it all for a bit!

Hmmmmmmmmmm, and under a Lying Labour led government, how much chance of it being a FAIR referendum do you think there is?

Nope, me neither

"Do you disagree that Proportional representation should not become the unused method of voting in the UK?"

I can see it now.........people exiting polling stations with their brains on fire...........

I've got an idea. We could have a referendum that lists all the different voting systems and ask people to pick their favourite. Then we use the system that came third to choose between the top two choices.

Not an original idea - it's the system we seem to be using for general elections now.

Well, I hope we do get a referendum (Only if the tories get power) as if it's a LibLab government we won't. It'll be forced through without asking the people that vote... us.

If we get PR, we'll get all this deals behind closed doors every time. So instead of party `A` winning and running the country under their manifesto, we'll get party `A` running manifesto's from party `A`, `B`, `C`, `D` etc.

So most of the people vote for party `A`s policy, only for it not to get used as a backroom deal stopped it.

My vote will be `NO`

Yep same crappy system we have here in the Welsh Assembly.

Something deffo needs doing, perhaps a vote for local MP then for the main party. So you could vote for the best local person, but vote for your preferred party. So we`d then know what %age of the UK population voted for each party.
