British GP saved.
At Silverstone for the next 17 years.
Good to see a long term deal. Hopefully some investment will now follow.

I hope so, Donnigton Park is a great circuit.... but with the F1 deal falling through, and motoGP now moving to Silverstone as well from 2010, it's hard to see where the big money is coming from.
They'll still have touring cars and british superbikes, but i doubt if either of them (or anything else on their calendar) even come close to the revenue generated by those two!
I can't see them going under altogether, but without large scale investment, it's doubtful they'll be able to get themselves into a position where they have the facilities to host a big world event like the F1/GP.

Donington is a very good circuit and it would be a great pity if we lost it. I don't know if it has been made unusable and if the bloke who now owns the lease can get it raceworthy again.

The track, perhaps. The facilities for the competitors, their sponsors and such like, probably. For the race fan, I doubt it very much indeed.
I cannot speak from personal experience as I've not been to Silverstone, but quite a few of my friends have, plus I've seen the various articles about the conditions there. Stupid tailbacks when you have an empty bus only lane. Turning up and being denied entry to parking as the field has turned into a bog. The facilities at the club being very very poor indeed, are a few things I've heard/read about.
I would like to think Bernie would force them to give the fans a better weekend out, as without us F1 would be a tad silly. But no doubt us poor punters will get the **** end of the stick again at Silverstone.

Some pictures here and track layouts - new facilities and pits planned. But they are getting rid of Bridge to make it safer, which I liked. And isn't that part of the draw of racing (anything) the possible danger?
