Oh good, a mobile phone thread.....
Usual really, upgrade time, currenty have an N95 on 3 which has been great, considerign getting an N96 but dont want to pay £40 a month, to be honest the camera and video are the main draws for me as is havign a shiny new gadget, anyone got one ?
Will pay £25 a month and maybe a bit towards the phone, or is there something better ? the wife said to go PAYG to keep costs down which I though was a bit cheeky as I pay £20 month for her contract phone.
The LG Renoir looks quite good as well, is it ?
Not keen on Sony's for some reason.

6220c is usually free, a good reliable phone with decent built in GPS and music player etc.
Its what I use at the mo.
Renoir does look nice I must agree, but not my cuppa.

My Dad has the N96 and I have the N95 8GB, both are really good phones with the N96 being an improvement over the N95 8GB because it has an SD card and various other tweeks The picture and video quality (DVD quality is one of the options) are good for a phone. The N96 is definitely an improvement in looks.
If there was a cross between an iphone and an N96 it would be perfect so I'm really excited to see what the N97 touchscreen is like, that's the one I'm holding out for

If camera is a consideration, take a look at the Sony C905, see if it can change your mind.

If usability is a consideration, give anything Windows Mobile a miss. I still regret that a year on - pocket OS - terrific, phone - shoite.

I've had mine since more or less the 3g was released and it's not been any trouble. No the camera isn't the best being only 2mp, but I have a proper camera for proper pictures. I'll only use the camera on the phone if I'm out on the pi$$. There are loads of games and aplications you can add, with some new features in the summer to be added

If you want a good camera, then don't buy a phone. Seriously.
They look quite good until you compare the output to a half decent compact camera, never mind a DSLR or better.
I'm posting from experience with an SE K850I, which has one of the better camera functions.
I'm with rj on this. Despite the fact that my iphone 3G is being replaced under warranty after 4 days (won't make calls...duh...) I like the concept so much I'm happy to give it another go. I accept that you get the odd duff one when millions are being produced and I know loads of people who have had no problems.
But if you must have a good camera, then look no further than the SE 905.

DevilDog, I know what you mean but its a case of we have various digi cams but I never take them out with me, they run out of batteries and require carting round, the phone I have with me all the time and as such I take more photos than I would ordinarily do, ok they arent as good as a proper digi cam but I have to say I have had some really good snaps fromt he N85 plus some priceless bits of video, so I really value the camera aspect and the ability to send a snap to my wife or whatever on the fly without having to fanny about emailing.

Well there's no video function on the iPhone at the mo, wethere that comes in the future I don't know. I will add that once a picture is taken it's simple enough to email on to someone. I think there is an aplication now that let's you send mms, though I've not got it or tried it

+1 on the C905, I never bother buying a separate digital camera so that is the most important function over all on my phones. The C905 does the job a treat.
Have had to send it back twice for the common ear piece speaker fault but Vodafone have been really good so still happy.

Hmm - the camera is good but with no optical zoom, it's not a patch on my compact digi camera (Lumix T5Z with 10x optical zoom). I also find it struggles with light balance and focus. Brilliant for a phone camera though.

I have an N96 and have had it for about 6 months. Not massively impressed.Has lots of glitches that i wont bore you with-but can be a pain in the ar$e when using the phone daily.Although ive tuned it to suit me,Its not as 'instinctive' and easy to use as other Nokias and the text isnt as quick as all of the other Nokias ive had.
Ive tried Sony phones but dont like them,so always have Nokias as i love their ease of use,but the N96 is disappointing.
Im with Vodaphone, who i think,by and large are good and i got the N96 for free after using the "im leaving you" blag-stick to your guns, its good fun.I pay £20 for 150 minutes and 250 texts which suits me

I have the LG renoir, although its a good phone and a cracking camera the internet lets it down. I usually read the paper on my phone at work and play on the net and the LG refuses to save my passwords I also want a phone that has a proper headphone adapter so I can plug in any headphones instead of having to use the dodgy ones supllied

The headphone thing will be annoying, Still have the N95 if I dont like it, plus the N96 doesnt seem like much of a leap from the N95 based on what I have read.
