I am thinking of buying one of these, but know very little about them. Does anyone have any first hand experience of them? If so can you answer any of the following questions.

1) Cost.
2) Best model.
3) Do they work.
4) Can you fit them yourself.
5) Where can you buy them from.
6) Any e-mail addresses that may help me.

Cheers.

Have a look at the UKSpeedtraps site. Scroll down the left hand side and they list a number of devices that they've tested. I do know of several people who have them fitted. However their legal status is still not clear and it would be wrong to publish those names on a public BBS. As to whether they work, AFAIK they do. Cost wise you are looking in the region of £300.

Cheers

cool bits of kit but just hope you don't get caught with one! I think you could get done for perverting the cause of justice...serious stuff.

A family member of mine has front and rear, but methinks they're not entirely legal

Not legal I'm afraid.

Get the Snooper S5 and it has a lazer gun detector with a range of up to 2 miles so that should keep you safe...

The legal position is grey, in that nobody has been done for using one.

Theoretically you could be done for perverting the course of justice OR obstructing a police officer.

However they would have to prove you were speeding and that the device was turned on in the first place. You can't pervert justice if you were'nt commiting an offense in the first place. And the police officer would have to prove the device was turned on and working to be obstructed..

UK Speed Traps only recommends one brand, also a copper friend of mine says for a fact that is the only one that works 100%.

Laser detectors wont "keep you safe".
This is because unless your lucky enough to pick up stray light from someone else being targeted, by the time you've detected it you've been done.

Apparently the Target LE 850 is quite good. Apparently...
