Radar/Laser Detectors and Blinders
#1
My Missus has just got a P1 and I was considering getting a radar/laser detector and perhaps a laser blinder fitted. The Valentine 1 detector and Snooper SLD 920 Laser Blinder look quite good but I wondered if anyone had any recommendations or experience about which is best or warnings about their use.

Hi Dave
I have a Snooper 812 detector
and a Snooper 920 deflector
Both excellent products
all though the latter is not strictly legal
HELPS ME DRIVE WITHIN THE LIMITS
LOL

I believe that the blinders are illegal in the UK and they are detectable by the police so I wouldn't personally get one.
As for detectors, the BEL 550 Euro seems to be the best one out there. Have a look at

Got them fitted proffesionally
Yes you can see the deflectors if you look for them
as for the police detecting them they can't
I understand they work as follows
Police : point and shot laser (6 Pulses)
Deflector : on receiving the 1st pulse interogates type of lazer and then emites an addtional pulse (whilst sounding an alarm)
Police :laser gun receives receives 7 pulses and records a misread
Driver :slows and turns deflector off
Police :laser fired again and reads 70mph
No reason to stop driver
Deflector is also able to operate automatic garage doors and therefore police seldom prosecute even if they see them
I am converted
