just had the best news ever....!
as above really, this summer the split and the little monkey are off on holiday for 2 months, back home to see her parents..!
so i am planning a trip...a ROAD TRIP!...
me and a few choice friends want to do a tour of europe, so any suggestions please, more like tips and hints, doe's and dont's!..
so the best places to go for the sheer hell of driving, scenery, and amazement, it will be planned over either 2 weeks or a week..!not to sure about my freinds plans..!
i do not need the routes or any thing (but it might help..!) just places that have given you the WOW factor..!
cheers in advance
oh and a happy new year to all and sundry..!

He probably will miss his immediate family, but if his inlaws are anything like mine the thought of being spared 2 months with inlaws would be akin to a lottery win.

hi
thanks for the response guys, yes i do love my family, and believe it or not, my inlaws..!
but we always forever take holidays together, and try to go back home once a year, so this time round, i asked if i could not bother going, the answer...YES!
so when opportunity comes a knocking, i sure is going to open the door..!

We do it with the bikes each year, can tell you some good places to stay too.
Would second what others have said though. One of the best we did was make your way through France, into Switzerland (Interlaken is brilliant and stunning) then through the passes to Italy. Then over Stelvio into Germany, take in some sights in Austria if you like (we did Eagle's Nest etc) then back up via Adenau and t'Ring experience. From there we've stopped at Ypres and done war things too, proper boys week away!

I see Munna's, though he loves them dearly, they are goign anyway, he can either mope or do stuff family life doesnt usually lend itself to, my wife and three kids go to her aunties in Wales over the summer, I joing them, usually at the weekend and go to work in the week so its an orgy of manly pursuits, booze, takeaways, dvd's and **** !
I think you need a bit of time away every now and again to make you appreciate what you have,
And have a break from the ******* !

MANLY THINGS....yes, i want to grow a beard....not shower...and take leaks by the road side!.....
through france, into swiss land, and then Italy, sounds amazing...i shall be plannin the route this week, or i could just drive..into france, and then swiss land, and then where ever the road takes me...!
i am so looking forward to it..
i did something similar 5 years ago, but this was around the worldish..!..but yes, its good to just have time to each selves, i am away 1 to 2 days a week with work, and even that i find very refreshing, to come home to mass expectations, of whats happened since i was a away and so on..!
it keeps the relationship fresh, and not closetting...!
once i have done this, i want to do more...!

every year for the last few me and a few mates have done some quality road trips across. best was last year but a few good routes below:
route 1:
calais - lyon - nice - monaco - san remo - como interlaken and home (plenty of moutain passes to pick up around interlaken)
route 2:
calais - lyon - nice -monaco - san remo - monaco - lake garda - zermatt and home
route 3: (best one)
le harve - clermont ferrand - barcelona (via milau bridge) - saint tropez - nice - monaco - san remo - verbier (via saint bernard pass) - home
certainly some good routes, Stelvio is one i want to do but it is the middle of no where so havent fitted that in yet.
great fun in a lotus elise and tvr chimera though.
usually do it over about 10 days.

Plus the road there is brilliant.
Check out the road just above the left rear view mirror on the bike.

Nurnburg is a foooofing long way from the race track, infact it is on the opposite side of the country and alot further south. Close to the Czech border in Bavaria. Or as the Brits know it as Nuremberg, where Zeppelin field is, the white building with steps that Hitler did his war speeches from.
Or do you mean Nürburg the town near the Nürburgring ?
As to the original poster, anywhere in southern Germany is great scenery and driving roads, the further south east you go the better, Berchtesgarten is fantastic.

i was thinking about doing the lenght and breadth of our fair land, and possibly ireland as well...might be another alternative..i have been thinking about that aspect aswel...me thinks that some thought should go into this, outwayed against the cost...!...as this country, is still unexplored by its own denizens..i mean i have not even been to Lands end, so i am off for a drive down there in february..!
i just want to drive, just for the hell of it..!
cheers guys
