I giving odds of 1 - 30000000000000000 that tomorrow there's a statement from the BBC saying "We never comment on the true identity of the Stig, but we are looking at new options for the next series".
Can't beat a bit of 'Off Season' free advertising. Get the punters wanting the next series now.....

Ben has been with the show for ages now, on and off since series 2 and then he has done almost all of the UK driving as "stig" since then, and its probably time for him to move on which is why he has been "revealed". He has been on the show "out of uniform" quite a few times, just no one ever notices!
There have been few UK stigs since PM, the only obvious one I can think of since series 3 is Tim Harvey at the 24hr race at Silverstone.
Also, everyone thinks the term "the stig" comes from Clarksons school days. The term used then was not stig but nig and its an old army term thats used in a lot of boarding schools and means New In Group. A new boy would be referred to as "the nig".

I thought Stig was a reference to Stig Blomqvist being someone who is rather handy behind the wheel.
As for THE Stig yes it was PM and BC but its whoever they can get/allowed to have drive the particular car. Who drove the Renault F1 car?
