Where is this magical land, so one may partake in the purchase of some cheap petrol as round here, unleaded is still £0.86 and super is £0.95

Oil went up about 16% yesterday, so enjoy it while it lasts.

And with the cost of imports set to soar due to the falling £, inflation is going to go through the roof as well in the next 8 - 12 months.

I was in North Wales for the last week and saw the price drop twice while there. It started the week at 86.9 and on the last day was down to 83.9. Got home (Derby way) and saw it down again to 82.9.

So what does this do the percentage of fuel duty to total cost?

Does anybody want to blame the government and its tax rates for the reason it dropped? They do when it rises so thought they might be responsible for the drop too

Funny that as nearly to a man all the economic experts expect it to do just the opposite and are actually more worried about the prospect of deflation.

Not in SN world. They are also solely repsonsible for the global economic slowdown - we haven't had this much influence on the world since the days of the Empire LOL

I know!!

Labour are responsible for the lowest Interest rates in over 300 years, cheaper house prices, cheaper oil, inflation expected to hit 0.25%, wages under control, cheapest shop prices for generations, cheap new cars, I could go on and on ........ I fully expect them to get elected by a landslide once again

Possible deflation short term, high inflation medium term. Look at how much we import, look how much the £ has devalued. The cost of many goods will rise substantially by the end of the year. We could see inflation at 8% by year end.

Do some research it's all out there.

Eg: From The independant.

Tour operators have increased the price of summer holidays by up to 40 per cent this year, raising the cost of an average family break to the Mediterranean by as much as £500, according to research for The Independent.

Sterling's slump against the euro and other currencies and rising prices in "bargain basement" Turkey and Egypt will put the cost of a week on a foreign beach in August beyond the reach of hundreds of thousands of families hit by the downturn.

The travel companies TUI and Thomas Cook have also removed at least two million of their 13 million package holidays from the market in a long-planned move to increase profit margins and stabilise an industry rocked by the collapse of XL Leisure last year.

Overall, an average foreign holiday for a family of two adults and one child has risen from £1,466 in 2008 to £1,742 this summer, up 18.8 per cent, the country's biggest independent travel agent, Co-operative Travel, told The Independent. Some holidays have risen by more – a holiday to the Balearic island of Ibiza has risen from £1,116 to £1,400 – up 25 per cent – while a break to the medieval city of Bodrum in Turkey has soared from £1,095 to £1,538 – a rise of 40 per cent."

Now I know foreign hols aren't used to calculate inflation, but it's an example as to how Joe Public will soon find his wages not going as far.

You do go on and on - spouting sh*te. You clearly have no savings in the bank. Not really surprising though as you spend all your benefits on imported tat according to your posts.

The reason for the above figures are that the economy is in fact disintegrating However, given that most of the population in this country are nearly as stupid as pslewis Nu Labor probably will win an election.

It's been around the 79.9 mark in central Scotland for a while now. I filled up in early December in Edinburgh (of all places) at that price!

My local Tesco in Falkirk was 81.9, no idea what it is at now though

Aye, V-Power is looking good now, I actually bothered to fill up the RA to 3/4 full (I tend not to go over half full to keep weight down.. yes bonkers).

But has anyone noticed fuel quality lately? I can swear I have noticed V-Power to be a bit poo compared to Tesco 99 lately which is odd, as my car is setup for V-Power it tends to be the other way round i.e on Tesco 99 it farts alot where as on V-Power it snorts it by the gallon.

As the price of fuel has fallen, Shell have kept the price of V-Power high. Feeling ripped-off, people seem to have reacted by shunning them. As the turn over slows the fuel will remain in forecourt tanks for longer and like cheap wine, it doesnt age well.
