Thumbs down Last Night - Proms question...

What happened to the Sailors Hornpipe??

Did the PC BBC ditch it?? Not peace crisp enough or something..?? Why oh why should some lesbian BBC programme controller be allowed to tamper with our nation's traditions??

I was looking forward to the out of time bobbing of the audience, coupled with their 'sound effects' as the tempo grew faster and faster....

I blame the Nu Lefties Just **** off and listen to your 'world music' albums....

They did a selection across the 4 orchestras.. did you not catch it? They had the Royal Marines playing at Hyde Park, and they were utterly out of tune.

Oh hang on, you mean the PROPER up and down like a wazzock hornpipe... nope. That got 'missed'

Yea, they performed that rather miserable experiment the last couple of years - it failed to work then.

But, they still had the Hornpipe....

Why has it been removed???

It was removed because it was Vaughn William's 50th anniversary, and so was a celebration around his work.

It'll be back next year they say......<parp parp>

PS presumably UB, if you're such a fan & ardent supporter, you'll have the last 22 seasons on tape anyway, so I'm sure there's no shortage of the horn your pipe so obviously needs.

I didn't see it, but were they allowed to do 'Land of Hope and Glory'?

I was disappointed they missed it-hope it will be back again. The experiment was a bit of a cacophony as far as I was concerned.

Yes they did Rule Britannia and Jerusalem thank goodness. I bet the NL Pinko Lefty Plonkers were really hating that!

ub,

It was probably removed at the behest of the PC nanny state we have now for some trumped up reason no doubt. And I am only half joking.

BTW take a look at this:

https://www.scoobynet.com/non-scooby...eden-lake.html

That film should press all your 'look what British society has become under the Nu Lab project' buttons
