2001 wrx : Can't get into gear after installing the new clutch..
So I did try to bleed for 3 days, every night after work for hours. Then finally I replaced the clutch master!!! Magic clutch got pressure works amazingly.
But now, here I am with the initial problem. Clutch is not disengaging. Can't get the gears in. (I started bleeding initially to get this problem fix) I played with the pedal by adjusting it. Still I can't get the gear to first or reverse. And all the others go in but makes noise. Can drive in 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th. But when release the pedal it makes a noise.
Pls help....

Hi
Not sure what you have done here, are you saying you have installed a new clutch kit and now you can't get it into gear ? Or is it just the master cylinder ?
There could be a number of problems including:
Gear linkage or stabiliser not connected correctly;
Clutch not operating when pedal is pressed, have you made sure the release bearing has clicked into place inside the pressure plate, does the clutch arm move properly when you press the pedal ?
To bleed the clutch you need to bleed the master cylinder, then the slave cylinder, you may need to remove the slave to do this as the bleed nipple may be too low to allow all the air out.
One other thing it could be, hopefully not, is a warped clutch plate caused by the gearbox having been left hanging on the shaft when it was refitted. This will result in the clutch not completely clearing so dragging, and make gears difficult to select.
Hope this helps.

Yes, after installing the new clutch couldn't get into gear. Then tried to bleed the clutch but somehow master cylinder failed. So I changed both master and slave. Then got the pressure back on peddle.
Then I adjust the peddle. After that I could get into gear but was not smooth. When engine is off gear changes and very fine.
After adjusting I drove around the block too. But could hear a grinding noise.
That's what happened...
What u guys think?

Don't think that'd be it, because if it was he wouldn't be able to get it into second - fifth either.
Ravimal, what did you actually install? Was it:
1. Just a new clutch plate
2. Clutch plate, and pressure plate
3. Clutch plate, pressure plate and flywheel
I had a similar problem on a twin plate, turned out my intermediary plate was warped slightly. Complete ball ache...
