okay it was a daft choice for wo*king - and fashion victim besides (timberlands) 50 quid
-the stitching is coming apart on the sides , i dont think i can hand-sew them better
Is there any glue that would hold leather to leather ????

there used to be a time when timberland where quality products, my first pair lasted almost 10 years. The replacement pair I bought have lasted 2 and the sole has gone and the stitchings coming apart. I havent replaced them with another pair.

Same here. My first pair lasted about 6/7 years. Wore them in the Snowy Alps. Wore them in the steamy Guatemalan jungle. Wore them in the mud, to work , and down the pub. They split, and my local cobbler told me to take them to the Timberland store in Bond Street. They GAVE me a new pair! These lasted about 5 years. Wallop- a new pair, "but these are only guaranteed for a year, Sir". Now made in Czechoslavakia, so shoddy quality. Still is! The American made ones are still guaranteed for life!

Looked at Timberland a few times but they never felt well made. My current walking boots are Brasher and they are the best boots I've ever owned. Comfy like you wouldn't believe, quality leather, snug calf-skin lining and Goretex. They've been to the top of Snowdon (not on the train ), Coniston, Skafell and hundreds of walked miles between, and even seen me waist deep in a bog which looked much more solid before I stepped on it No aches, no blisters and always dry socks ! I'll definitely have another pair when these are shot, which may be some time.

ive gone to brasher as well, my current pair are the Hillmaster GTX and they are very light, and very comfy. In over 5000 miles of walking they've never given me a blister or wet feet.

I had a pair of Timberland boots years ago that separated from the sole, took them into Selfridges and they just swapped them for a new pair.
Used to be made in the US and they were excellent, now made in Dominican Republic and they are definitely cheaper and crappier.
