Probably Venus, often the brightest body in the sky reflecting light from the Sun. It was certainly very bright last night as I noticed it as well.

Wouldn't be Venus at the moment, it's currently a morning object (low in the SE sky) so is too far from the Moon.

Ah, was wondering if it was that one. Pretty lucky seeing it as it's just (in the last week) brightened from about mag. 15(?) to mag. 2.5.

C/2007 F1 Loneos is also quite bright at mag 5, so should be visible by eye. It passed perihilion a couple of days ago.
