Does anyone still actually use a VCR?
A comment on another thread regarding people getting up early to watch the Far East Grand Prix led me to question how many people still use VCRs.
I've owened a PVR for 18 months now and know we could never go back to something as basic as a VCR again. When the F1 was on recently I had set the PVR to record. When I got up in the morning I started playing the programme (even though it was still recording), skipped through the boring stuff, saw the race, skipping through the adverts (in about 3 seconds a time) and ended up about 30 mins behind the live programme at the end.
The advantage of having a full Freeview guide available on screen, pausing live TV, recording two things at once (and playing back a third at the same time if I wanted) and lots of other useful functions enables us to watch TV in a whole new way.
Does anyone still use a VCR, and how on earth do you cope...?

Tivo certainly set a standard, but I think there are PVRs on the market that can do most of what the Tivo does now, and some things that it can't. I think Tivo still fetch a good price second hand though so worth hanging on to if it still does what you need.

I've got a VCR, but don't use it. I won't get a PVR either.
I didn't get time to watch all the rubbish I taped onto video, so why will the time appear with a PVR?
Also, with Freeview and Sky, it's all repeated anyway.......

Still got a VCR, still works, still use it to record TV when I'm out. Replaced a lot of my old videos with DVDs, but still have loads of stuff on tape that I still like to watch.

Have got a Media Centre PC that I use for recording things from standard terrestrial telly (series record on Top Gear etc) but still use the VCR for taping things from Sky.
Was an absolute nightmare trying to find a new one a couple of months ago when our old one packed up!

bought a new vcr around 13 years ago and its been used about twice
ended up putting it under the bed for safe keeping, as above, freeview is always repeated on stuff like CH4+1 +2 +3 +4 etc etc etc, so never felt the need for anything else!
