Ditched Nokia, gone to SE - Splendid!
After about ten years with Nokias (mostly very good), my last two were absolute howlers - An N70 (dismal software - almost unuseable) then a 6280 (battery trouble, then just died randomly).
So finally took the plunge and went to Sony Eriksson. Got a W850i (walkman style, 2MP phone, a million accessories) and am very chuffed with it.
The torch has already come in very handy too.
Anyone thinking of "the switch", do it now.
Will take a lot to get me back to Nokia.

I haven't used Nokia for ages - I have had a mixtute of Samsungs and SE for the last 4 years or so.
Currently got a W850i
I do like the look of the N95, but nokia have a terrible habit of releasing phones that simply cannot cope with the software

Pete - Bearing in mind I got it yesterday afternoon, any hints on how I'd find that?! Sounds useful - Thanks!
Nokias just used to work well - When my 6280 died,I had to use my 4 year old 6230 for a bit- Battery lasted ages, easy to use, etc - Seems Nokia have gone backwards!

I've recently got myself a Nokia N95 and have been really impressed with it. It seems fast, and has run everything I've thrown at it so far. Not all Nokias are bad...

Quite simple to use - If you have photoshop, or some other tool that can create .png files - then you can get transparancies and all sorts going on. I have made a couple of themes on a lazy sunday afternoon
Also, you can get a firmware updater from the SE site - the firmware has gone up at least 2 revisions since the phone launched.

Yep, me too. Went to change my phone the other week and had full intention of getting the Nokia N95. Then heard that the battery lasted about 2 minutes on a good day. My pet hate is a poor battery life.
Ended up getting a SonyE K810i, absolutely cracking phone, crystal clear speaker even on speakerphone, does MP3, 3.2MPixel cam, etc. Oh, and the battery lasts a few days without charging. Really easy to use too.

I haven't used a Nokia for over six years. I went with SE for around 5 years after that. Still like them but I'm on Samsungs now, as the only problems I had with SE's, were the little joysticks sticking/breaking. I'll be going back to an SE when they have one without the joystick.

Yep, I did this and got a W850i. The 6280 was awful and put me off Nokias. Best thing I did. I have the opportunity to upgrade right now and thinking of the new SE...

That will be over a year ago then
Currently have a w880 Nice phone, bluetooth is still a bit glitchy like older SEs and the camera is nowhere near as good as the w800/k750 camera, plus as silly as it seems: I miss the torch function. Other than that, good phone. Still haven't figured how to play music over bluetooth; which its supposed to do.
Used to have Nokias, and when renewing I've always tried them out. But their menu systems seem to get more haphazard every time they add new features and the key layouts seem to be designed more for style than function on many; the just don't suit me at all anymore.
I still fancy a Samsung credit card phone though

Also, with regards to the W850 - Do you have the trackiud function enabled? (i think its network dependant) I do - and its utterly ace
Hear a tune you like on the radio or TV but don't know the title of, press trackid on the phone, and it then sends 10 second recording off the gracenote, which then comes back with the artist, title and album.

This is the one I'm waiting for too. My contract's up next month so I hope they hurry up & bring it out or I'll have to go with the N95. And considering I currently have a N73 which has been a bit crap, I'd rather go back to SE I think.

I am currently on the K800i and I am waiting for the K850i to come out. The camera is the main function I am after and I have seen some really good reviews about the K850i.
Battery life in my K800i is amazing compared to any other phone I have ever used, a year down the line and I still only charge it once a week.

I have the W850i as well, had the N73 previous and it lasted a few months before I got rid, I went off Nokias due to buggy/unresponsive software etc. I think the Sony actually uses the symbian software as well and it doesnt matter how much stuff I have on my memory stick it doesnt slow down.
will be upgrading in december/jan to the new w9 series that has a touch screen

I moved from Nokia to SE about 5/6 years ago.
Went from a Nokia 6210 (which I had for the battery life rather than liking the phone) to a SE t68i and haven't looked back. Since had a K750i and now have a W880, which is an excellent phone that despite being mega slim has an excellent battery life.
Edited to add that my brother is a big fan of Nokias and has the N70. It may be able to run Tom Tom s/w etc but it is a huge phone and I just can't stand the user interface and menus etc. Horrible phone.

Jerome -Indeed. I lasted four months with the N70 before demanding Orange change it. It nearly went in the sea on a number of occasions - Drove me insane.
