It varies between employers, there's no hard & fast rule regarding it, although the 'norm' would be double time.

I'm salary based, so I'd be expected to work it without extra pay, although I would recieve an extra day's leave for doing so.

We get double time + an extra day off. I think quite a few firms offer this if you work on a bank holiday.

My old company used to be double time for bank holidays (which was no different to weekends). My current company once you reach my grade you don't get paid overtime (just flexi-leave at single time). So I don't work weekends or bank holidays without a compelling reason.

I'm already paying my staff to have the day off doing nothing for a bank holiday (which is additional to their 20 days plus 1 day per year of service). I pay them double time on top, so effectively they are getting triple time. If I was to give them any more we wouldn't get the work anyway.
