bank holiday payment
if you normally have the bank holidays off work and u get paid for them
whats payment should you get when they want you to work is it double time or not? |
It varies between employers, there's no hard & fast rule regarding it, although the 'norm' would be double time.
I'm salary based, so I'd be expected to work it without extra pay, although I would recieve an extra day's leave for doing so. :thumb: |
Im on a salary and I get an extra 150GBP beofre tax.

We get double time + an extra day off. I think quite a few firms offer this if you work on a bank holiday.

My old company used to be double time for bank holidays (which was no different to weekends). My current company once you reach my grade you don't get paid overtime (just flexi-leave at single time). So I don't work weekends or bank holidays without a compelling reason.

Depends on what is in your contract:thumb:

I'm already paying my staff to have the day off doing nothing for a bank holiday (which is additional to their 20 days plus 1 day per year of service). I pay them double time on top, so effectively they are getting triple time. If I was to give them any more we wouldn't get the work anyway.

Mate of mine works as a supervisor in a whorehouse for a major retailer where you dont shop for it. He claims to be getting treble time for working May day bank hollibob
